Beyond excited to share, "Best Practices for Recruiting and Retaining Fathers in Parenting Research: Insights from Fathering Researchers", led by @aadeneault.bsky.social with amazing co-authors @julia-feldman.info @alpaytuglu.bsky.social @sjss.bsky.social and others not on BlueSky 😄

This project was a labor of love and I am so excited that it's finally out! Conducting research with fathers may take some creativity and new tactics, but it can be done.

NIH IRTA program resumes recruitment. Good sign!

Analysis of Terminated NIH Grants with Word Clouds First, using the titles of grants not to Columbia... Gender and DEI predominate

Our new paper finds that (sadly and unsurprisingly) race-related stress and dissociation symptoms are related to increased suicidal ideation among Black US Americans after controlling for cumulative trauma load: psycnet.apa.org/record/2025-...

Substantial updates to the list of cancelled grants👇 - THANK YOU to all who have contributed. Crowdsourcing restores faith in humanity. - It's still a work in progress. You'll see more updates shortly. - There are multiple teams & efforts engaged in tracking & advocacy. More to come soon!

Pushed my student to ask for feedback on her predoc fellowship application from a program officer (PO) at NIH. This used to be a near-necessity; they would tell students about recent rule changes that might affect them, for example. PO responded w/a form email that they can't give feedback. Yikes.

Seems like a good time to bump this excellent piece written by (at the time) trainees. Highlights many longstanding issues with the internship model as well as insights gleaned from new challenges encountered during the pandemic. journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/...

I received one of the 232 NIH grant "terminations" sent to scientists at Columbia last night. My research focuses on improving maternal and child health in the US. Also affected: ongoing clinical trials, research training programs, and research centers that aim to improve the health of Americans.

Let me be very clear. Jews are being used to justify the destruction of higher education. We need to stand up and openly oppose these actions, no matter our feelings about the campus protests.

The Trump administration illegally arrested and detained Mahmoud Khalil, a lawful permanent resident and recent graduate of Columbia University, in direct retaliation for his advocacy. The government must immediately release him from custody.

As a Jewish faculty member at one of these institutions, I am saying right now, in the clearest tones possible: not in my name. This violent exploitation of Jews as an alibi for achieving Fascist ends is itself textbook antisemitism.

The University of Pittsburgh has ordered a hiring freeze for faculty and staff as it braces for continued federal funding uncertainty. The hiring freeze comes weeks after the school paused admissions to its Ph.D. programs.

Local researchers and scientists are speaking out and calling for support to counter threats from Washington D.C. that jeopardize their funding and work. A planned gathering of science writers, however, has been cancelled after Pitt and CMU pulled funding.

Pittsburgh researchers, doctors, and supporters filled Schenley Plaza Friday to speak out against government research funding cuts. Similar demonstrations were held across the country as part of a nationwide “Stand up for Science” movement.

This afternoon several hundred Pittsburghers gathered at Schenley Plaza to show their support for science and the importance of scientific research:
