Take a look at what I've just added to the website. It's Body Count by @juliecohen.bsky.social - the second book to feature feminist serial killer Saffy It's not out until August, but you can order a signed AND dedicated copy right now. bertsbooks.co.uk/body-count

Happy Pride from your neighbourhood queer author auntie in a £7 dress from Vinted

Ive been pretty vocal shout just how much I loved Bad Men by @juliecohen.bsky.social - a feminist thriller that took the current trope for female serial killers, and reinvented it with humour and sharpness. Excited for the sequel, Body Count- coming 14th August @zaffrebooks.bsky.social #bodycount

I think I have a COVER REVEAL coming today (for my next novel, Body Count) and also I am going to a party tonight so that is nice

Happy Pride Month, protect trans kids 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

I am reading proofs of my next novel BODY COUNT (out in August) and I am giggling at the references to The Princess Bride, The Empire Strikes Back and about 6000 references to Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal

Funny, every writer in the UK knows how it'd work. You'd ask @alcs.co.uk to organise it. Seeing as how it's EXACTLY WHAT THEY ALREADY DO.

Update: I found another bumblebee in my house and brought her outside for a maple syrup snack

Peony from my garden

I found a bumblebee on my dining room floor this morning. She couldn’t fly so I put her in a saucer with a little maple syrup and put it outside in the sun. She started eating right away. Her little red tongue! After about half an hour she flew off ❤️🐝

My world is rocked

Happy Friday! The Edinburgh Bookshop @edinburghbookshop.bsky.social matches my new EAT SLAY LOVE paperback! I met bookseller Stéphanie and got to sign a leaf for their author tree 🍁

Guys I was sad that the blue tits decided not to nest in my bird box this year but I have discovered that this is because the box now hosts a nest of BUMBLEBEES. It is so joyous to see them bumbling in and out of their home 🐝

For a special paperback publication day treat I visited Lighthouse Books in Edinburgh to sign copies of EAT SLAY LOVE (and a cheeky copy of my sapphic novel SUMMER PEOPLE). With very extra special treat, Artemis the dog. Thanks for the welcome, Mairi and Arty! @zaffrebooks.bsky.social

It’s paperback publication day for EAT SLAY LOVE, the story of three women who have nothing in common except for the man they are holding hostage in a basement, and which is really a story of female empowerment and solidarity. Happy day! bertsbooks.co.uk/product/eat-...

What a shop! What booksellers! Rare Birds Edinburgh is a riot and full of kickass books by kickass women. Knowingly inclusive and FUN! Sara, Amanda and Rachel made me feel right at home. Loads of signed copies of EAT SLAY LOVE and BAD MEN. I guarantee you will walk out with a bag of books.

I did a mini-tour of independent bookshops in Edinburgh. First stop was the breathtaking Topping & Company, in the most beautiful building. Topping has a wonderful serene atmosphere. Bookseller Mia made me very welcome and gave me some great local tips. Signed copies are on the shelves now! #booksky

I visited some awesome bookshops in Edinburgh yesterday and I will show you some photos after lunch

Edinburgh I love you

I often have to explain how my public speaking bits don’t at all sound like one of Hitlers speeches. It’s a common problem of a successful communicator.

My grandmas were immigrants, my mum & sisters in law are immigrants; my sister & nephews are migrants. My kids study maths, Shakespeare, dance, act & score tries alongside the kids of immigrants. My dad’s life was saved by immigrants. Immigrants have made us richer, wiser, stronger Win the fight

Wtf does ‘An island of strangers’ mean? Do immigrants cause all citizens’ friends and family to suddenly disappear? Does no one ever make new friends? Are immigrants not allowed to speak with anyone or become part of a community? This is some racist bullshit Keir

Heard my first cuckoo of the year this morning 💕
