After years of campaigning for fairer treatment I am immensely proud that our Government will invest £9 million to transform treatments for sickle cell disease. www.gov.uk/government/n...

Today I am thinking of Ian Coates, Barnaby Webber and Grace O'Malley-Kumar, two years on from the terrible attacks in Nottingham. My thoughts are with their families and everyone who was affected by this tragedy.

Labour are investing £39 billion over the next decade in a new Affordable House Plan - the biggest cash injection into social and affordable housing in a generation. This will bring down high housing costs, and improve access to safe and decent homes.

I appreciated the opportunity to meet with members of UNISON this week to discuss the ongoing strike by Healthcare Support Workers at NUH NHS Trust over backpay. I urge the Trust to return to the negotiating table and work in good faith toward a fair resolution.

On Monday I chaired the APPG for Dyslexia for a very important meeting on how the teacher training curriculum must be reformed. We need to empower educators to be prepared to help their dyslexic students and transform lives.

Labour is investing in your health We announced our first Spending Review today – which includes record cash investment in the NHS.

Fantastic that the Government is pledging £2.5 billion for the small modular reactor programme which will create 3000 jobs in the East Midlands and provide us with clean, secure homegrown energy.

Brilliant to meet with the Secretary of State for Education to discuss how expanding free school meals will benefit children in Broxtowe. A good meal at school means better outcomes for children and money in the pocket for parents.

Here's what I got up to in Broxtowe last week:

Here's what I've been up to in Westminster this week:

Great to pop on to BBC Radio Nottingham this morning to chat about my involvement in Jamie Oliver's new documentary Jamie's Dyslexia Revolution. Be sure to watch tonight, 9pm on Channel 4!

Victims of rape and serious sexual offences will have new rights to challenge decisions as part of a CPS pilot scheme. Labour are serious about tackling violence against women and girls and I'm encouraged to see the rights of victims being strengthened. www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

Here’s nine things Labour’s Plan for Change has delivered this week:

After 14 years of Conservative failure resulted in record levels of illegal sewage dumping in our rivers, lakes and seas, the Labour Government is taking on the water bosses by spearheading the largest increase in criminal action against water companies in history.

New research shows: Poor mental health exacerbates poor attendance. Poor attendance exacerbates poor mental health. Labour is addressing school absence by rolling out Mental Health Support Teams across all of our schools. That'll reach another 900,000 children over the next year.
