Today is the Dragon Boat Festival. The photo shows the festival in Wenzhou in the 1930s. Dragon boat races in Wenzhou were more than just a festival and often led to conflicts and even murders. However, they helped to maintain social ties and reduce tensions between the government and the people.

At least local and state cops claim they're looking for rioters. To my understanding, "protestors" have not done wrong. FYI, they dropped the "harboring protestors" bit from their statement. Cops running roughshod over citizens' rights is nothing new; but it's exactly as wrong as it's ever been.

One of the reasons I think a moderate, Slotkin style politics won’t meet the moment is that it doesnt WORK even if it wins. If you beat these guys 51 - 49 instead of losing 51-49 but don’t do anything about them, you’re still going to lose in the end.
