Let's assume for the moment this is true. This can be attributed to 2 things. 1. A stronger adherence to core assumptions on the left such as the veracity of science. 2. (MUCH) more possibility space in the nation for the right to thrive and accumulate power.

The entire concept of Lee as this noble figure who detested slavery yet felt such a loyalty to his home state of Virginia that he had no other moral choice but to take the side of the Confederacy is utter hogwash, and that needs to be pointed out far more often than is currently the case.
