Shocking to outsiders? Authors' work finances dozens of full time jobs, from publishers to agents to book printers to booksellers, yet very few authors make enough from their own books to write full time and either have other jobs or spouses who earn more. I find this extremely fucked up.

Let me introduce you to Pintalia constellaris, a cixiid planthopper that I've been trying to find for years. Why? It mimics a jumping spider, but you might need to squint your eyes a little to see it. Despite its wide distribution in Latin America, I found it only recently in WildSumaco, Ecuador.
