PREPARE YOURSELF FOR fun content and things to learn and coding to practice and a joke to laugh at cassidoo.co/newsletter

I think I have finally managed to articulate this very fundamental but slightly counterintuitive fact about how shell redirection works

I posted this before I was a Googler - I just believed it was possible. TODAY I'm presenting LIVE at Shoreline #GoogleIO I need the streets to be in the building IRL or online to help me celebrate this! WEB STAGE @ 11 AM Pacific www.youtube.com/watch?v=XASR...

The Kubernetes v1.34 Release Team Shadow Application is open until May 18th: forms.gle/ESb6983wA7Nq...

BIG release from etcd today! Their first release in about 4 years! Some really cool improvements here. Check out the blog or release notes for details!

This one has some really cool stories in it! I particularly like the Kubernetes on a dairy farm use case, of course 🐮

There are a lot of incredibly talented people on the job market right now. Many of my friends in DevRel, OSPO, program management, and engineering are looking for their next role, some have been searching for months. If you’re hiring, please consider sharing a link to your open roles below. TY ❤️

published another ai blog post. yes, it’s my second in a row. no, i’m not pivoting. i just accidentally started caring about protocols.

I LOVE stories like these! Welcome to the community, @adrian.changeover.za.net! We're glad to have you!

I didn't know anything about the new User Namespaces feature until I started learning about the 1.33 release. It's an interesting feature for security that enables you to make use of user namespace isolation at the Linux level in a way you couldn't before in Kubernetes.

A personal use case for AI: I find AI to be very helpful for pushing through transition time. Say I'm coming off of a meeting and I have 30min. I'll pop over to Gemini and explain what I'm working on & what I think I should do next. This helps me get into the mindset to do the next thing.

How does the public conceptualize AI? Rather than self-reported measures, we use metaphors to understand the nuance and complexity of people’s mental models. In our #FAccT2025 paper, we analyzed 12,000 metaphors collected over 12 months to track shifts in public perceptions.

Turning feedback into features is one of my favorite parts of building. Thanks for the push @bnb.im 💟

So good!

"In short: Synadia is attempting to convert a successful open source project into a closed, commercial product[...] Imagine if Google tried to take back Kubernetes after all these years of it being a neutral open source and community-driven project." That 🔥 is scalding. www.cncf.io/blog/2025/04...

Interested in what's new in Kubernetes 1.33? Check it out in our interview with the release lead, Nina Polshakova!

As a leader, when you have someone that consistently has a meaningful impact on your team and the work you do, it’s imperative that you do whatever you can to pour into that person’s career in the ways they deem most impactful. Even if the person’s career goals end up not aligning with your team’s.

I got to have a conversation in Japanese with some Japanese attendees during the Go Developers meetup at #GoogleCloudNext! One of them showed me how he was using Gemini to translate pictures of slides from sessions. Said he was able to get a lot out of sessions with it!

Now at #GoogleCloudNext! @mofi.dev is leading a GKE for ML meetup! They're doing an "Open Spaces style thing where attendees vote on topics to discuss/learn about! + A wild @boredabdel.bsky.social appears!

I was sadly not at KubeCon EU this time because late last year, I became a manager! And my team does a lot at Google Cloud Next, which is this week in Vegas! I'm still doing a lot of the same work though, and I hope to see everyone at the next one 💙

Treat your platform as product; use open source in community. Great overview of open source in the Norwegian government at #KubeCon.

Very proud of how my new work laptop sticker collection is coming along 😆 (thanks @charity.wtf for a lot of these!)
