Remembering this great tweet on the Summer Solstice

I have unbelievably only just got round to reading Juno Dawson's Her Majesty's Royal Coven trilogy and it is SO GOOD. Perfectly pitched, dark and hilarious witchy drama with a superb cast of characters. Highly recommending to anyone as late to the party as me.

UK/US LITERARY AGENTS: Are you willing to look at submissions from former Unbound authors on the, uh, rebound? If so, please drop a line in my DMs with your contact and #MSWL or area of expertise. Especially looking for people who rep nonfiction. Some TRULY excellent books looking for homes.

The horrifying reality of Israeli-back food distribution points. Devastating reporting by Malak A Tantesh and Emma Graham-Harrison www.theguardian.com/news/ng-inte...

UNBOUND AUTHORS: I’m speaking to a solicitor about our fine mess. If you have ANY correspondence with the company (beyond the “Dear Author” letters we all got) in 2024 about nonpayment or about the company’s financial stability, could I see it? I’m opening my DMs for this (don’t make me regret that)

Brighton and Brighton-adjacent pals and spiritual Brightonians, I’m doing a Brighton launch with my beloved @citybookshove.bsky.social I’ll be talking with one of my fave people. Hope to see you there ❤️ ropetacklecentre.co.uk/events/city-...

For those of you who knew Victoria Brownworth on Twitter, she passed away from cancer yesterday. She was a fearless journalist who reported on AIDS in the 80s (when Reagan was ignoring it), lifted up the LGBTQ community, & rooted out corruption. Her wife, Maddy Gold, died of cancer in 2022.

Just got a huge burst of followers from the States. Thank you, guys! If you want to see Pakistan like you've never seen it before, do check out my books! At the very least, they'll be eye-opening 🤩 www.amazon.com/s?k=awais+kh...

So I've deactivated my Twitter account as there have been 2 potential attempts to hack it in last couple of weeks. I can't work out if it's just getting confused when I log in from my laptop but I do not live anywhere near Ashton under Lyme so taking no chances. Has this happened to anyone else?

Please share. 🙏 Lets connect the community & give ourselves a break! Sadly, I cant fund peoples travel but even if you lived at the other end of the UK, you could get public transport to the location and back for under £100. I'll take care of the rest out of my own pocket, and donations :)

It's 7 years now since we moved South from Bristol and I brought with us a cutting from the loganberry bush in our garden. It's still going strong & producing more berries every year, somehow surviving the onslaught of footballs thudding past it.

Lifting up transgender voices in literature has always been important, but now it's more vital than ever. Share these 14 books by trans creators and/or about trans characters ahead of Transgender Day of Visibility on March 31 and all year round. www.slj.com/story/newsfe...

We were very sorry to learn of the death last month of Marika Sherwood, a pioneer of Black British history. The scope, extent and impact of her work - as a historian and campaigner with the Black and Asian Studies Association - are well captured in this recent obituary by Hakim Adi bit.ly/4hAc85t

I asked my child if I should make them a giant fruit rainbow like Meghan Markle does in With Love, Meghan and they said 'no mum, no offence but you're not the chef you think you are'. How bad a cook must they think I am that they don't trust me to chop up fruit & arrange it in stripes on a plate.

Belated link to this, with a deeply moving article about creeping fascism on the German border by the wonderful Insa Koch, and tributes to three great anti-racists we’ve lost, including Marika Sherwood, whose historical scholarship was a major impact on my first academic writings.

Look at this excellent merch that West Sussex Library Service has produced for its centenary. I'm going to go back and buy it all 👇 #libraries #books

www.nytimes.com/2025/02/22/m... - I appreciate Ed Yong's work and especially his *approach* to that work. I enjoyed listening to this conversation.

while we're asking questions about whether America has always been All That... did you know that one of the reasons the colonists rebelled against England was that King George signed a treaty with Native Americans saying they wouldn't settle past the Appalachians? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_P...

Very sorry to read of the death of Marika Sherwood, who linked me up with Miranda Kaufmann & Onyeka Nubia when I was at the very beginning of researching my book. She was clearly a pioneering & inspirational historian & I wish I'd been able to meet her in person: johnblanke.com/marika-sherw...

This “NATO transcript” is fake and I’m sad to see people repost it. I’m reporting it and blocking the account that originally posted it. Always worth checking your sources before you repost stuff that conveniently affirms all your political feelings, whatever side you’re on.

Happy #pinkponyclub day

The Park Service has removed references to trans people from the Stonewall memorial. At the start of my poetic career, I wrote this to maintain the truth - they were there. They can chisel words off monuments: they can censor my poetry . Truth remains. glamourousrags.wordpress.com/2009/06/28/s...

“for goodness sake have some dignity David stop” sounds like a marvellously middle-class telegram.

I think this has to be one of the best digital reconstructions I've seen in a long time. Is that an enclosing embankment and rampart behind it? could this be one for #HillfortsWednesday?

Army guidance on implementing President Trump's order on transgender troops, filed in court today, says to NOT take adverse personnel action against people based on gender identity "at this time" and to continue medical treatment. for gender dysphoria. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

they talk a lot of shit, but it looks like the court orders are holding for now. musk may want to break everything, but he’s not the one who has to show up in court and defend it.
