More beavery stuff from the last few weeks. Some photos from the enclosure at Hamatethy Farm, I’m yet to meet anyone who isn’t fascinated when entering an environment such as this. The rest of the photos are from Helman Tor, where a pair of free living beavers have taken up residence.

@iolowilliams.bsky.social would you be able to share at all for us one more time 🙏 - just a few days left to reach our target

Sometimes it's nice to catch the common animals on the camera trap behaving in a totally natural way, such as this magpie bathing in a Cornish stream.

"A male beaver which travelled from Wales to Cornwall has "settled in" to its new home, alongside its resident female beaver. The Lost Gardens of Heligan introduced Byrti in October from Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust after the previous male beaver at Heligan died." Full story: lnkd.in/e6BKqEie

We don't often get woodpeckers on the camera traps, so nice to catch this greater spotted taking a drink during the summer this year.

We're loving the comments from supporters of our beaver project crowdfunder! Please repost to help us find more supporters! Just 1% more and Cornwall Council will pledge a further £5000! Full details and how to donate here: www.avivacommunityfund.co.uk/p/kernow-con...

A fantastic photo of one of our reintroduced water voles! Thanks to Adrian Lea for this.

Another one from the camera traps, this time a lovely jay sipping some water from the summer. In front of it you can see where the flag iris has been nibbled by water voles.

Another non-target species on the camera traps whilst monitoring for water voles and American mink - this time a roe deer buck. Bucks rub their foreheads and antlers on trees to mark their territory with scent from glands on their heads.

PLEASE SHARE! We're looking for any sightings of water voles or American mink in Cornwall & Devon within the last 5 years. This will help us target our efforts to eradicate mink and reintroduce water voles across Cornwall & Devon. Please submit the details here: forms.office.com/Pages/Respon...

Hoping for another cold snap soon and for a bittern to turn up on our camera traps, like this one did in 2022!

We don't get weasels much on the camera traps and when we do they don't stay long!

More camera trap footage of the Cornish otter family from last year. Mum and one of the siblings seem very cautious and aware to the threat of danger, whilst the other sibling is somewhat more relaxed!

A very late staying osprey on the River Camel in Cornwall www.facebook.com/groups/RSPBC...?

Hello BlueSkiers! I’ve made a starter back of people working on rewilding and similar things in UK and Ireland. Many more to add but it’s a start. go.bsky.app/A7v5ZUQ

A slightly damp tawny owl caught on one of our camera traps last summer. It wasn't popular with the local blackbirds!

Otter family hunting together on one of our camera traps! Otters coexist with both beavers and water voles so this ties in well with our projects. All of these species are indicators are part of a healthy river system.

Some more camera trap footage of our reintroduced water voles! Ignore the date as this is from summertime and early in the morning when the sun is rising.

We don't reintroduce water voles because they're cute, but they most certainly are!

Some nice camera trap footage of one of our reintroduced water voles from last year. You can see how the vegetation in the water has been grazed on. We often find them using waterside willows branches like this to preen and also to eat on, diving into the water if they sense danger.

We're looking for a small number of business sponsors to help support our upcoming beaver project. Are you interested for your business, or do you know anyone that might be? Details of our project and crowdfunder here: www.avivacommunityfund.co.uk/p/kernow-con...
