People use the term "The Groups" because if you actually had to name the groups you're talking about, it turns out it's NAACP, ACLU, Planned Parenthood, Sunrise Movement, Immigrant Justice Network, etc. Nobody wants to attack them by name because it makes you sound reactionary.
