Sorry, I'm always a little cranky after a fragment of the internet I rely on to do part of my job decides to update from functional to useless.

No, no, if I wanted to search for "fire", I would've searched for "fire". I searched for "kinfire". Now kindly filter out about 99% of the results you're showing me, crappy unnamed social media site. I'm not paging through 8 million "This is FIRE!" posts. Put your AI search back in your pants.

Listening to my 7/11 cd now. I had it digitally on itunes for ages, but tracking down a physical cd was rough. It wasn't cheap, but now I finally have it in my hot little hands. I really do love this album. It was utterly amazing as game music back in the day, and it's a delight to sit and absorb.

I gotta say that Chili's 3 for Me deal is great. You can get a nice chunky burger, fries, drink, and chips and salsa for ~$12 (with some options on the sides and such). They're a bit far from me or I'd get takeout from them more. If more sit-down places do that, fast food better watch its butt.

Made it to my PO Box today as well as Half Price Books. Highlights included a lovely handmade flower pop-up birthday card from Mom (she's very talented at those), and a cd I ordered for my birthday (7/11, by the Fat Man and Team Fat, the soundtrack to the 7th Guest and 11th Hour.)

I complain about KS and the drama that comes with it a fair bit. Credit where credit is due, though, our Kinfire Council backers are generally being lovely about the tariff situation and that's a load off when dealing with the pile of nonsense it's caused behind the scenes. Big thanks to y'all.

Today my internet was down as they did some construction. Started to play some New Pokemon Snap, which I like, but I can't play too much of it in a sitting, so I wound up playing some Sudoku on switch for most of my gaming time today. Got in a nice walk too.

hey! the crowdfunding campaign for BACK TO EARTH (a graphic novel about lesbians and post-apo) is still up for the next 48 hours!! if you haven't heard about this project until today, now's a great time to check it out and support queer independent media! www.backerkit.com/c/projects/m...

Tried out new Pokemon Snap tonight, and it's nicely relaxing and fun. Cute premise, and overall decent mechanics to the photo evaluation stuff, though the limit of one photo per pokemon per trip is a bit eyeroll-y. Still, I can see I'm gonna get a fair bit of play out of it. Worth the $30 I paid.

It's really 'exciting' to watch as search engines all across the internet slowly fall to pieces. On social media, it's usually due to some weird business scheme to generate engagement, while the actual search engines are succumbing to monied interests and AI putrescence. Yeehaw.

Wandered through a Half Price Books and a Cheapo Records today. Bought a few cds off my wantlist and picked up Dragon Quest Builders 2 for a decent price. Then ate dinner on a restaurant patio (had "Minnesota Goulash" which was pretty tasty.) before rolling on home.

As part of my birthday, I'm allowing myself to buy a couple of cds online that are particularly hard to track down. The first is from The Fat Man and Team Fat, and is the soundtracks from The 7th Guest and The 11th Hour. Just ordered it, and it wasn't cheap, so here's hoping it arrives okay.

Also, as I was going through my nature photos, I discovered that I had captured a rare deer blep.

Working my way through my stack of birthday cds this evening. The new Ghost album (Skeleta) is so far the only one that won't play on my stereo (encoding incompatibility, presumably) but happily it makes an awesome driving and sitting in the car eating lunch cd. Definitely a banger album.

One of my co-workers was pleased to note that another game designer had picked up a bunch of my Incredible Dream games, and I tried not to pop his wonder with the knowledge that boardgame designers mostly just pass around the same $60 or so.

I really enjoy the amount of design freedom I get at Incredible Dream Studios. It's always nice when you're trusted to do your job.

Listening to the Essential Willie Nelson this afternoon. Very glad to own it finally after months of keeping an eye out in vain. Disc 2 is really the sweet spot for me, but I love some good Willie Nelson. I'm pretty sure it's gonna make the cut for my "best of" shelves.

For my birthday this year, I gave myself two main presents. First, I went cd shopping and got a good haul. Second, I went off my diet for the weekend and ate some things I love but which I generally avoid for carb/diabetic reasons. I knew I could trust myself to get back on the wagon afterwards.

Our colleagues in the Vox Media Union have put together a Go Fund Me. Please, if you've enjoyed what we do... If I've ever helped you in some way... If you've ever loved something more because of what we've written... Please give what you can. The next few weeks and months are going to be hard.

For my birthday, I went to several music shops and bought a bunch of cds, ate at some of my favorite places and ignored my diet, and now I'm listening to a cd (lowly, but loudly enough to drown out the loud conversation from the apartment next door, which I'm not gonna feel guilty about.)
