The narrative that "NZ was in a terrible state when we took over" sold to us by National is bullshit. In your day-to-day life, or in terms of services you have tried to access, what, objectively, is better for you now?

It's been a long journey and the trip of a lifetime. But now it is time to go home. The world was meant to pass her by. As it stands Tina will now never be forgotten 🩷

Our stupid economic management model relies on a bufferstock of 100,000+ unemployed people. This model virtually guarantees that young people only get jobs when the economy is hot (or borders are closed). A universal free study / paid apprenticeship scheme is such an obvious move.

“So, let’s get one thing straight, you do not run a country like you run a household. It’s deliberately misleading to say that. (So much so that economists in England started protesting its usage on the BBC.) Household debt and government debt are totally different.” www.stuff.co.nz/politics/360...

Bravo to Yo-Yo Ma, who joins a long list of celebrated musicians and entertainers who refuse to perform at the Kennedy Center now under the unfortunate direction of Felon47.

Esther de Lange, "He has made sure that two of his children have German passports" When Nigel Farage objects to a UK-EU Youth Mobility Scheme, he wants his children to travel freely around the UK and EU, but he doesn't want your children to enjoy the same right

Every dog deserves a 2nd chance

The Govt have crashed the economy and kicked thousands of young people out of work. Now they're coming for their meagre benefits - to force them into selling their labour cheap to slave masters in the gig economy (or piling into debt for tertiary education). It is disgusting.

It annoys me that Luxon keeps claiming that the gas and oil exploration ban is the reason for gas shortages in NZ. I fail to see how that can be given how before the ban no new fields were found and even if they were, it takes years to get gas from it. So his claims are bollocks #nzpol

#GVerse #Attention: This is insane; In a bizarre moment, the President of the United States suggests he can tell the drug companies "we're just not gonna let you sell any more cars into the US… any more wine or liquor or alcohol." He is cognitively not there. 👀🤔 WTAF???

Cook Islands declares dengue fever outbreak in Rarotonga amid rising cases

A Johns Hopkins study found SARS-CoV-2 may reprogram neutrophils—the body’s most common white blood cells—disabling their pathogen-fighting role. Instead, they suppress other immune cells, weakening the immune response and potentially worsening COVID-19 outcomes. Source: archive.md/kSXuG

We could have kept pay equity AND had GST off fruit and veges. There should be a law against campaigning on one thing and doing something completely different.

I'm old enough to remember National's howls of outrage when Labour wanted to tinker with kiwisaver before the last election. They created such a stink in the media that Labour abandoned their proposal. And now look what they're up to. One rule for thee, another for me, it would seem. #nzpol

MSD/Treasury have updated their benefit forecasts. Between Budget 2024 and 2025, 'jobseeker' forecasts for January 2026 increased by 21,000 people. That's what happens when you choke the economy of public investment. What about the future? Fear not... [1/2]

Considering pay inequity is such a big contributor to the fact that women have less money to retire on makes the drop in govt KiwiSaver contribution a double kick in the teeth for women

It's almost as if people would use the train if it was available, we could be onto something here🤦‍♂️ #nzpol

Just waiting for the wailing and calls for leniency to start as landlords complain about only having, checks notes, 6 YEARS notice #nzpol

Fully Funded Public Services AND Fully Funded Public Works OR Everyone under 50 goes to Australia leaving Boomers and Gen X with no one to pay for their Super, nor health care as they get older in age (let alone finding any carers to do the work as well) www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/budget-th...

WHAT?????????? Trump: "The drug companies are very worried that they're gonna fight. And that's ok. If they fight, we'll just say, 'That's ok, we're just not gonna let you sell any more cars into the US…any more wine or liquor or alcohol”

I'd been feeding Rolo for 2 years before her got smashed in a hit and run. Today he heads off to his forever home in the Czech Republic. A very very good boy

The Green budget has great stuff in it and it frustrates me no end that they get treated like "tree-hugging weirdos" while National, who were told that their landlord tax cuts didn't add up before the election, get to throw women under the bus and still are somehow "safe hands" for the economy.

There is a boom for tradies now. It’s the people getting houses ready for market so they can head over to Oz. Double whammy -in a year we will have lost those home owners and the building sector will be on its knees. And the only person who can save us? Winston Peters if he breaks the coalition🤞

The Budget Knight, making short work of unicorns and rainbows. My Stuff #cartoon today #nzpol #Budget2025 #PayEquity #LowWageWorkers

You’d have to be pretty crazy to want to attend a US university right now. What Trump has declared for Harvard could apply anywhere. You pay tuition up front. And board. And then you might get kicked out the USA?

Nicola Willis holding a breakfast for business folk, telling them about how much she's given them in this budget I'd love to see her host a breakfast for working women and tell them about how much she's taken from them #NZPol

COVID informed people ARE living our lives We’re just not behaving or making decisions like the government or the rest of society want us to They want us to 🙈🙉🙊 just like them #COVIDinformed #COVIDcompetent #AirborneAware

Stolen $17bn from Women Borrowed $12bn from everyone To pay for Tax cuts for the wealthy Tax cuts for landlords Wonder how much more for bombs?

I'll have more to say on today's absolute horror show of a budget at the weekend. This is all I've got for now... another week of terrible jobs data.

Fuck tax breaks. Give us properly funded public services.

National love yelling "show me the money" at the left (they've only seen the one movie) but WE are the ones who pay for their policies. We pay in lower wages for nurses and teachers, longer waiting lists for GPs and preschool, higher petrol prices and no alternatives to driving everywhere ...

You know what to do whānau. www.stuff.co.nz/politics/360...

I mean, Luxon *did* finally “unite the country” - I’ve never seen so many people all firmly agree this is the worst Budget they’ve ever seen in their lives, and sure as hell will be voting accordingly 🤔

We could save millions by not paying politicians or from making anyone with more than one house pay 90% tax. We could shut all private schools. I can think of lots of interesting ways of saving money for the government instead of stealing money from the lowest paid.

#NZBudgetWEAK2025 😤🤬

Voila.

The best way to get a better Budget? A change of Government.

It's not "saving" money, its stealing from women is wages so businesses can buy new cars

So women are now quite literally holding up the New Zealand economy in under-paid work marilynwaring.com/publications...
