Here is your #FridayFrog. I saw several of these big, common frogs in Costa Rica. Leptodactylus sp., I think Savage's Thin-toed Frog, Leptodactylus savagei. Shot at ISO 64 for maximum dynamic range, with weak diffused fill flash so that the pale, shiny highlights wouldn't be overexposed. 🐸📷 #frogs

Actually one of my favorite scientists. His writings are marvelous. He had such a sense of wonder and discovery that shines through into his writings. Highly recommend "Humboldt's Cosmos" as a primer, which I may reread next

This is very interesting work. It's worth noting that Bill Gartner of UW Madison Geography has been studying and mapping raised beds like this across Wisconsin for decades. He has also done lots of work with the College of the Menominee Nation on reconstruction of ancient agricultural sites.
