Belated but not forgotten: The books I read in May, courtesy of @thestorygraph.com πŸ’™πŸ“š

Students working quietly on state testing review packets = time to knit during the school day 🧢 #knit #knitting #EduSky

Another knit baby hat! It's always a good project when you want to show off the inside as well. 🧢 #knit #knitting

Imagine what this means for America's future. Innovation gone! www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

It's always satisfying to pick up a collapsed, tangled skein and wind into a tiny little cake. 🧢 #knit #knitting

"You read books, eh?" A 1949 red scare Herblock cartoon about pressures on teachers that hits hard once again.

Tis the season to churn out baby hats, I suppose! 🧢 #knit #knitting

I'm ready to watch this and be racked by anxiety attacks the entire time. πŸ’™πŸ“š youtu.be/Q1vnyd-RAQ0?...

#FungiFriday πŸ„ #FungiFriends I can't remember which photos I've posted anymore, so may these little orange guys cheer up your day.

4.5 stars πŸ“šπŸ’™ Loved it in a way that hit me viscerally. Previous Grady Hendrix novels that I've read tended to veer towards camp in a way that I didn't quite enjoy, but still found intriguing. This is my big pay off for pushing through.

Chicken cup cozy! Chicken cup! 🧢 #knit #knitting

My colorwork is getting there. A couple weeks of practice and at least it's feeling more consistent. 🧢 #knit #knitting

Yesterday's teacher appreciation gift from the Superintendent: cold and concealed buffalo wings, 4 per person, no plates or napkins in sight. Awful, messy, I touch both paper and grimy students with these hands. I do not want this.

*huge sigh*

How did I never realize that "The Secret of NIMH" stood for the NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF MENTAL HEALTH? What other aspects of my 80s childhood did I block out?

The netting has some wonky rows, but I'm finally onto the handle of my Ilene Bag www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib... 🧢 #knit #knitting #wip

Currently reading: "The Two Towers" by Tolkien My first reread since high school πŸ’™πŸ“š

A Chicago Bulls hoodie makes Kilmar Garcia a gang member the same way a shiny gold cross makes Karoline Leavitt a Christian.

Robin Wall Kimmerer and Cordelia BΓ€hr were just named to the TIME100 list β€” and rightly so! But did you know they were already part of an even more exclusive circle? Both have knitting patterns inspired by their work + named in their honour: here's the Braiding Sweetgrass socks & Cordelia set! 🧢

Oof. We’ve fallen so far, so fast.

Latest WIP is coming along nicely. I'm not used to this level of colorwork, but hopefully having some vacation time this week will speed it up. 🧢 #knit #knitting #wip

It's due to snow three inches tomorrow. Spring Break Wooo!

Don't mind me, just having big feelings about the Last March of the Ents. Because of, uh, reasons. πŸ’™πŸ“š youtu.be/XzugQBkUrZk?...

It's always disappointing when I have to remove books from my classroom. But when a bulk order arrived with these 3 mixed in, I knew that the content just wasn't appropriate for my students. Time to donate these to the local library. #EduSky πŸ’™πŸ“š

RFK Jr. told me he would "address drivers of maternal mortality.” But he just fired the researchers that work to improve the health of mothers and babies.

Graph paper art! Calculating area and perimeter suddenly isn't so bad when your example uses a sausage dog. #EduSky

#showmeyourknits baby clothes is the perfect time to trot out the loom knit toddler hat I made my daughter, then Hat 2.0 that had to be made after we accidentally felted the first one. 🧢

"Go With the Flow" by Lily Williams and Karen Schneemann 5/5 stars πŸ’™πŸ“š Cute middle grade graphic novel that covers lots of bases about menstruation, friendship, embarrassment and standing up against authority. Its a great addition to any classroom!

"The Fellowship of the Ring" by JRR Tolkein 5/5 stars, but we knew that πŸ’™πŸ“š This is my first time rereading it since high school, and I'm falling in love again. Think my husband will be OK with me digging out my old poster of Aragorn and hanging it in its rightful spot above our bed?

For this week's #showmeyourknits, here's the first colorwork I did while trying to teach my class about graphing on the coordinate plane. I love showing my wonky creations to students. We all start somewhere, and your teacher is no different. 🧢 #knit #edusky

Today marks the 15th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act being signed into law. Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, pre-existing conditions are covered and 24 million more Americans have access to healthcare.

Got so excited to read "Strega Nona" by Tomie DePaola to my toddler daughter, only for her to be TERRIFIED by the page where pasta overflows the house. We didn't even finish the book. What books scarred you or loved ones as a kid? πŸ’™πŸ“š

Graph paper art is underway! Students love to make the designs, so let's see how well we can knit them up. A couple cats here or there can only improve Geometry class. 🧢 #knit #edusky

The fact that Barron Trump goes to NYU, and not, say, Hillsdale College or the University of Austin really says it all. These people desperately want the imprimatur of the elite institutions of higher education they claim to disdain.

This week's #shoemeyourknits theme is green. What's better than a chunky knit hat to get you through the winter? Added pompom for style! 🧢

Dismantling the Department of Education has nothing to do with improving outcomes for our kids, it’s simply about taking away resources from our public schools.
