“Desire paths” are unofficial trails, usually bypassing a planned path, that reveal the most convenient route to get somewhere. The people (AKA meanderthals) that tramp along these routes often wear away grass, creating the secondary path Walk this way for more on desire paths (a thread / tread)...

I will say it if no-one will: it's amazing to me that if you're a woman and would like to buy summer swimwear, your only two options are seemingly "god no I don't swim, if I breathe my entire tit will fall out" or "ach ja, ich had a wonderful time swimming for East Germany at the 1988 Olympics "

The billionaire class poisons activist discourse spaces by filling them with white noise, making it harder to use the internet to build social movements. Now they're coming for the knowledge spaces too, at a time when political assaults on real-world learning spaces are growing.

Open all of the crossings. Let in lifesaving aid at scale, from all directions. Lift restrictions on what & how much aid we can bring in. Ensure our convoys aren’t held up by delays and denials. Release the hostages. Implement the ceasefire. Let us work.

I think this is such a major driver of AI use in university assessments. And also just a real… disconnection between why we think students are here (to learn about history!) and why students think they are here (to get good grades, to get a job)

The Ada Lebu lemon I had to try was knobbly and green, and the fruit was probably too sharp even for cooking or making desserts without liberal amounts of sugar. It does have these cool seeds that are tinged with a lovely pink colour, though.

My first Lulo! (I prefer the name Naranjilla). Smells really nice. Texture kind of like a kiwi fruit/tomato cross? I see some people who try it say it tastes like rhubarb, but for me it’s definitely sharper than that. It’s very tart. Would probably rock in the equivalent of a key lime pie.

One might even call it ‘levelling down’

What the fuck have I just seen?!

In case you missed it in The Other Place, Liz Truss has gone properly fucking nuts.

In case anyone is interested, here are the tiger lemons I was talking about yesterday (I’m proposing that we rename them ‘Canary Lemons’ 🍋 for reasons that are hopefully obvious). I have three viable seeds from the largest, and the juice was delicious in a morning cuppa.
