I just did the generic "Applications Engineer" job test for City of SF and it definitely was written by someone who hasn't moved past domain controllers and 2005. I got a "15.0", whatever that means for the rule of the list.

SF People: I want to consolidate. Currently I have a Wells Fargo checking that I use only for ATM access. Would BofA or Chase be better for me? (I have credit cards with both already)

Reasons to ride MUNI: run into a neighbor and get invited to a potluck.

You know, just spray painting lawn reindeer orange in the park.

Looks like for the first day of summer vintage streetcars we've got the nice open air Melbourne car. https://streetcar.live/

If you're going to hook up AI crap to your ticket system: Don't be cutesy and have a signature like a human, and maybe don't respond in 30 seconds with an answer that doesn't answer the question.

Why do we have to beg button to cross anywhere in Mission Rock/Bay? It's supposed to be transit and pedestrian rich.

Local transit nerds: the most recent MUNI fare inspector training manual is now public with only one redaction. https://sanfrancisco.nextrequest.com/requests/25-3160

Fun fact: ICE must pay full fares for MUNI in SF, they are not on the MTA's exemption list. Parking Control Officers are exempt.

What is this nonsense?

Tempted to go to the Valkyries preview tonight considering you can get a club level ticket for $26...

Way too early in the morning to call in a 5150 on Market St. But if you are halfway crawling under a MUNI bus, I guess it's time.

This new class of ferries are excellent.

It's that kind of day.

I put in a request via Sunshine Ordinance for an updated copy of the SFMTA "TRANSIT FARE INSPECTOR TRAINING MANUAL". Let's see if they give me a redacted version again.

Just saw someone get into a Lyft Cybertruck on my block. Why are you driving for a TNC in a $100k car? Sounds like you are poor at decision making and shouldn't be driving.

Happy RSA conference week to all who celebrate! (Top 3 conferences for bar buyouts in SF)

FYI: I am still looking for a job! I'm having really good timing of being mid-interview process when they do layoffs or change engineering direction.

When your Pixel Watch tells you to take it easy because your cardio load has been high lately, yet you haven't worked out in weeks.

In important humor: the elevator at Union Square announces "Floor Pee"

$3.99 for a quick sprint to BART on an acoustic bike is not acceptable. Guess I'll get my monthly pass back now that the weather has turned but bleck.

I've gotten tired of being asked to build a list of images as an Android interview question since 2018. So here's a quick modern solution: github.com/kurtisnelson... (not perfect, no tests, but good study guide. PRs welcome!)

I got a jury duty summons for late April; given that I am currently not working full-time, put me on a horribly long case!

Nice to see Waymo still doesn't know about daylighting nor earthquake safety nor how a white curb works.

Just did my first ever options trading to hedge my massive portfolio of Pinterest stock from when I worked there. Only did a tiny amount though since I don't exactly know what I am doing.

The New Flyer buses in DC have padded seats. I wonder how long that would last on MUNI.

Pandas are officially boring and lazy, just like London Breed. Makes sense why she wanted them in SF.
