I know it didn’t end how y’all wanted, but thank you, Stars fans, for following along with our coverage — from Finland, to Canada, and to Canada again — in my second year on the beat 🫶

The Stars could never overcome this fatal flaw against a talented Oilers team ⤵️ www.dallasnews.com/s...

DeBoer on Oettinger: "We can go back to last year's playoffs, he's lost six of seven games to Edmonton, and we gave up two shots on goal goals in an elimination game. It was partly to spark our team and wake them up and partly knowing that status quo had not been working."

Pete DeBoer said the decision to bench Jake Oettinger was first to shake things up for his team and second because he felt he had seen a big enough sample size of Otter in the WCF against Edmonton and the “status quo” wasn’t working.

Pete DeBoer said he feels the two teams that are in the Stanley Cup Final are the two best teams in the league. “I didn’t feel like we were better than Edmonton this series.”

Jamie Benn was asked if he’s given any thought to his future. “No.” He was also asked if he feels good about his chances to be a Dallas Star first the foreseeable future. “Yes.”

Five thoughts from Stars-Oilers Game 5: A familiar ending to Dallas’ season www.dallasnews.com/s...

The Stars coaches are not in the handshake line. The Oilers coaches are. I know Paul Maurice was dying to know.

Final: Oilers 5, Stars 3 The Dallas Stars’ season comes to an end in the Western Conference finals for the third straight year. They’re the first team to make the WCF three years a row without hoisting the Cup. Edmonton will face Florida in a rematch of last year’s final.

Oilers empty netter. 6-3

Bad bounce off Esa Lindell's skate and in. 5-3 Oilers

Jason Robertson has absolutely come to play this series. His second of the night and fourth in three games makes it a one-goal game. 4-3

End of second: Oilers 4, Stars 2 20 minutes to save the season.

Connor McDavid and Roope Hintz, two of the fastest in the game, race to a loose puck. McDavid wins, scoops and scores. 4-2 Oilers

Tic-tac-toe Roope Hintz scores on the power play. Somehow, we have a game. 3-2

Stars are going on the power play.

End of first: Oilers 3, Stars 1 About the worst start possible to game you need to win to save your season.

The Dallas Stars have killed a penalty.

Stars pull Jake Oettinger early in Game 5 vs. Oilers www.dallasnews.com/s...

Steel high sticking penalty. The Stars are going back on the penalty kill, which has not been so good as of late.

Jason Robertson. Three goals in three games. 3-1

Jeff Skinner scores. Absolute disaster for Dallas. 3-0

The Stars have put Casey DeSmith in for Jake Oettinger.

Mattias Janmark scores. Former Stars are having a field day. Klingberg next? 2-0 Oilers

The Stars PK left Corey Perry wide open in the slot in back-to-back games. This probably wasn't the best time for it to completely fall apart.

Corey Perry scores on the power play. The Oilers have a power-play goal in all five games this series. 2:31 into this one, Edmonton has its fifth 1-0 lead of the series.

Mavrik Bourque gets a high-sticking penalty on his first shift since Game 4 of the first round.
