I was visiting a primary school today talking about the way that families come in all shapes and colours. Thank you @laurahallain.bsky.social for the fab interview about #PeopleLikeStars and the inspiration for my books.

So... What did Dennis Waterman ever do for me? And the track that everyone else loves but soundtracks my nightmares? And the track that got me through tough times? I LOVED answering the @hellishpod.com questions. And, of course, I'm dead curious to know other people's answers.

Today @lawrencepatrice.bsky.social gives us the 5 tracks she will meet in Hell! Patrice also told us about her new book PEOPLE LIKE STARS, how she came to write for children, AND brought a beloved TV theme to Hell! tr.ee/PQLPm4WkLE

Absolutely this.

It's been a privilege to have a platform to highlight topics I care so deeply about - @booktrust.org.uk writer in residence (outgoing).

Puloma and the Bear @jasbinderbilan.bsky.social is the moving story of a girl escaping an unloving home, saving a sloth bear from terrible cruelty along the way, and finding a place for them both 💚 A gem of a book, illustrated by Skylar White @barringtonstoke.bsky.social 🐻🙏

Just creating a post for Black kids book week and taking a moment to basque in how many amazing books I own centring Black kids - of all kinds. This isn’t even half of it. If anyone has a time portal I urgently need to send all these back to 1989! If you want a recommendation let me know. #kidlit

I'd planned to recommend a list of contemporary children's books where main characters don't have permanent homes. I always read the books I recommend and annoyingly couldn't get hold of enough books to read in time. These are a few of the many wonderful books that adults should read.

Once again, thank you so much to everyone who champions children's books in blogs, videos, podcasts and beyond. It's time consuming and unpaid and a lovely, lovely thing ♥️🦊

Equally delighted to be a judge again! If you are or know care- experienced children and young people with a story to tell, please direct them to this competition!

We've teamed up with Kinship and @drlisacherry.bsky.social to bring kinship carers workshops all about using stories to discuss emotions and identity - and there are free books available for attendees! 📚 Book your free spot: 📅 26 March: bit.ly/4k1JmNG 📅 27 March: bit.ly/3QkPkeY

Hello, Saturday! Silent disco at sunrise. May have to invest in waterproof trainers.

Fabulous @laurahallain.bsky.social has created a podcast to celebrate children's writers and boost the profile of children's books. #kidlituk

It was great to join our Writer in Residence Patrice Lawrence at the #ChildrenInCare conference today. She gave a fantastic talk about how books help children with difficult emotions- we know the benefits of reading can be particularly transformative for children experiencing vulnerability.

If you're attending the #ChildrenInCare conference tomorrow, don't miss a great session with our #WriterInResidence @lawrencepatrice.bsky.social! Join her at 11.55am as she shares how the magic of books can have a lifelong impact on the lives of children in care. childrenincareconf.co.uk
