Early day authoritarianism - Throw yourself into convincing friends how bad it is, but to still have the hope and courage to resist. Go to protest afraid it will be the same 400 people, but instead, it’s 10x that! Return energized, only to find the news too cowed to report the true size. “Dozens.”

I know this alone won’t fix it, but a massive, unified display of urgent dissent is a necessary step in the process.
