as state budget season culminates in mounds of shit being passed by Dem trifecta after Dem trifecta I'm gonna reup this piece I wrote about why Democrats need to throw off the mental shackles of austerity and learn to believe in government again

Honest question for Jake

Something I've realized in my adult life is that being a male feminist means accepting that you will encounter many women who have far more regressive views on gender than you, and it's up to you to not let this distract you from believing in equal rights for all people.

I feel like I'm being gaslit on a daily basis

Dems, of course, in disarray

Exactly. I think the thing that’s missing here is that the media creates Glonzos—and if the only Glonzos they ever create have the gist of “Dems bad,” then there just isn’t a way for Dems to harness that. You have to win the media war first (or at least contest it!)

i honestly regard the republican party in the united states as a type of barbarian invasion. the illiterate steppe people come to knock down our temples and use our scrolls for firewood.

Think about what it says to talk about a 67 year old, even leaving aside how awful he is, as “the future” of anything. Solipsistic octogenarian cowards anointing a Medicare-eligible ex-governor who resigned in disgrace the future captain of the sinking ship. What a party.

This looks like a Mucinex commercial

Begging New Yorkers to find the self respect not to rank a man who has such utter disdain for you that he can't even bring himself to not flout traffic laws for the length of his mayoral campaign. He doesn't care if it's a bad look. He thinks you're pathetic idiots who he deserves to rule over.

After telling us they're no longer endorsing local candidates, NYT comes out de facto Andrew Cuomo while all but acknowledging his sleaze and corruption. This entire piece is a work of shocking intellectual dishonesty that further tarnishes the reputation of this once important paper.

Over on Twitter, there is a strong consensus that Bluesky is an echo chamber. Here on Bluesky, though, the debate is ongoing.

literally this

Just disgusting. Words can’t describe how disgusting of a worm every single person who makes editorial decisions at NYT is. Same for basically all MSM

as i have now said a million times, the democrats ought to be funding and building an entire alternative media ecosystem. party papers, national and state. party podcasts that communicate basic party propaganda and platform issues, responses to daily issues and crises. there is simply no excuse.

They like Trump, helped him win and now they're trying to help him rule over us like a king

I'm sorry but the largest protest of my lifetime is not the 7th or 8th biggest news story in the country behind "what does Gen Z want from Instagram?" This shit is humiliating. Rearrange your layout to meet this moment. Omitting the thing happening in every American city is malpractice.

The armchair punditry on this app has reached brain-melting levels today

Easily the bleakest thing I’ve read this week. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/13/t...

Don’t be afraid. the Fort Bragg speech is designed to demoralize you, it isn’t a sign of anything except that a guy who’s good at being fake on TV is trying to be a tyrant. Does it suck that he’s the President? Yeah. But people are standing up, the issues are in the courts, and we’re America

Right now, Dems are hiding in their offices, scrolling their phones fearfully, wondering "how are voters going to feel about the National Guard being deployed?" The right, meanwhile, is vigorously *attempting to shape* how voters feel about it, filling every medium with coordinated propaganda.

You’re saying when you talk healthcare here, you are met with some kind of hateful silence? lol

For some reason, I was just thinking about how Trump’s former chief of staff tried to warn us right before the election that Trump was a fascist who wanted to rule us like a dictator … and the New York Times put that story on page A12
