A new era of government censorship has begun. It started with the silencing of scientific speech, when the admin blocked release of research on bird flu. But MAGA has also cracked down on other wrongthink—on race, geography (!), and of course Trump himself www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

🚨🚨🚨Blockbuster paper out today! Bear with me as I explain why this one is so important. 🤔 The *economic* anger about immigration is based on the false notion that immigrants take jobs or lower wages. A major misunderstanding behind this view is that immigrants only increase the supply of labor.

Why are no headlines focusing on the unconstitutional and dictatorial nature of this action?

I’ll say it again: It was a huge mistake for Congress to abolish itself.

Unique analysis and far and away the most powerful rationale for not going to war: www.theatlantic.com/internationa... American Democracy Might Not Survive a War With Iran - The Atlantic

Might seem wacky. But appoint the right special counsel, and Trump gets official U.S. government report supporting one the key founding myths of his authoritarian movement: That the 2020 election was or may have been rigged. Useful as they prepare to rig 2028 under the guise of election integrity.

“The president cares nothing for the military, for its history, or for the men and women who serve the United States. They are, like everything else around him, only raw material: They either feed his narcissism, or they are useless.” Read 👇🏻:

This is going to be an absolute must-read, as everything by either author tends to be.

Outrageous backroom deal between Abbott and Trump after TX legislature refused to deny undocumented, tax-paying Texas residents the right to an education. I’ve met with many Dreamers who contribute to our economy as nurses, lawyers, teachers & more. These are our neighbors; they deserve our respect.

This is very bad Once they start screwing with the data, that’s the whole ballgame

"For 142 years, the merit-based civil service survived because both parties recognized that functional government requires professional expertise. That consensus is dead. We're watching the transformation of public servants into party servants, of a government of laws into a government of loyalty."

How bad will it be? Catastrophic. Proposed cuts to #NSF, #NIH, and #NASA will set the US R&D landscape back 25 yrs+, cause economic and job loss now, and undermine innovations to come. But, this is the WH's *proposed* budget. Speak up now before it is too late. (inflation adjusted $-s below)

There are 2 previous historical cases of countries destroying their science and universities, crippling them for decades: Lysenkoism in the USSR and Nazi Germany. The Trump administration will be the 3rd. It's not just budgets but research, institutions, expertise, and training the next generation.

This👇 is exactly right But I think it’s even worse than the hard working staff at Drezner’s World lets on. And will take longer to repair

Ronnie Dugger revealed “the operations of the state Legislature, the courage and disarray of a pathetically small political opposition in the state, the effect on Texas’ culture of highly organized know-nothing groups working on civic clubs, school boards and high school government classes.”

On this Memorial Day, at a time when immigrants are being demonized, thinking of all Mexican & Mexican-American service members -& their families- in the US Armed Forces who sacrificed everything for their country. Their courage was remarkable, and the debt of gratitude Americans owe them is immense

As Trump focuses on his trade war, Brazil and China forge closer ties: Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has signed up to Xi Jinping’s vision of a multi-polar world, as Beijing expands its influence in Latin America. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/m...

Mi videocolumna @latinus_us hoy latinus.us/mexico/2025/...

It’s crucial to keep emphasizing that these EOs were lawless. There was never a plausible argument they were constitutional. This administration has nothing but contempt for the constitution and the rule of law.

They unlocked the doors, turned off all the alarms, dismantled the guardrails, fired the watchers, and have damaged or removed endless safeguards across the spectra of our daily existence. All so, presumably, the rich get richer, and Trump doesn't have his feelings hurt with "bad news."

Even two months ago this would have been a leading US and international news story. Today it's already so normalised that its not breaking through.

I don’t want to read about a former President’s mental decline because a journalist got a book deal. I want to read a report about the current President’s mental decline by a journalist brave enough to speak out now.

Fed or not? Hard to tell from this pic, but I say fed. Should this man think they are militia or vigilantes & resist, he will be beaten to a pulp & have added charges. 1/

Surreal corruption… this reporting deserves attention and plaudits

The scene is set

A crypto company part-owned by the Trump family stands to earn millions of dollars from a business deal involving a state-backed investment fund from the UAE. The arrangement amounts to “foreign policy for sale,” critics claim. www.wired.com/story/as-tru...

Alarm bells should be ringing in the 2 other North American capitals & across the EU w/ the Mexican gov's new telecom bill seeking to control & censor media & digital platforms. Don't be fooled. It's yet another turn of the screw on the slippery slope of democratic erosion we've seen in 🇲🇽 since 2018

Here's what I said for this story, which is very much worth your time. Because this flight was stopped, reporters have had the chance to actually dig into the government's claims of gang membership — and they are EXTRAORDINARILY weak.

We have not even begun to find a way to politicize the gross corruption of the Trump Administration. Just the outright firesale of impunity for people who pay him for it.
