My statement on the assassination of a Minnesota state lawmaker, her husband, and the attempted assassination of another state lawmaker and his wife:

No matter where it may fly, the American flag encompasses all of us. From our complex history to present day, it symbolizes the fight for liberty and justice for all and dares us to keep going, keep pushing for freedom from tyranny and a land that welcomes all of us. 🇺🇸 #FlagDay

With many of our seniors graduating this week, I want to wish the Class of 2025 congratulations on graduating from high school! No matter what the future holds for you, I want you to know that PA will always have your back & be a place to call home.

Child care is essential for a functioning economy. Without it, working families struggle to sustain their jobs and pay bills. Blayre and I joined child care workers to discuss the challenges workers and parents face when trying to access care and what PA is doing to alleviate some of these issues.

Supporting local manufacturers like Murrysville's Premier Automation not only supports high-quality job creation but keeps us competitive in two of the fastest growing industries in the world- manufacturing and technology. I'm grateful to see one more PA town receive a boost to their local economy.

Every day we’re working to create a Pennsylvania that supports you at every stage of your life through investments in:    👶 Childcare  📚 Education  👷 Workforce Development  📊 Building Business  🏡 Growing your Family  👵 Supporting Seniors     Today and every day, we’ve got your back.

Pennsylvanians rely on mass transit to get to work, go to school, travel to doctors appointments and so much more. We must work together in this Commonwealth and fund mass transit.

Processing stress, anxiety, or fear can be difficult, especially for our youngest citizens.   That’s why this budget proposes $111 million in student mental health and school safety improvements so that our students can find the resources and support they need when they need it most.

I ran for office because gun violence came to my community as a teenager and I wanted to do my part to keep communities safe. This administration is taking a comprehensive approach to gun violence, working every day to ensure violence interruption resources are available & Pennsylvanians stay safe.

The Pennsylvania Pipe Trades are some of the most skilled union laborers we have in this Commonwealth. This administration is proud to support them & all of our unions helping to forge a better Pennsylvania, for as long as Governor Shapiro & I are here, PA will never be a right to work state.

With more Ukrainian Americans living in Pennsylvania than almost every other state, we have all felt the impacts of the war in Ukraine. Today, I was proud to meet with European parliamentarians to discuss Pennsylvania's ongoing support in the fight for freedom and democracy.

Today, Pennsylvania embarks on a new path forward in technology and innovation. Amazon will make an initial investment of $20 billion in this Commonwealth, establishing multiple state-of-the-art data centers in Luzerne & Bucks counties, creating 1250 permanent high-tech jobs, and built by PA trades.

Pennsylvania is a Commonwealth that accepts all people, no matter your race, religion, gender, or sexuality. @governor.pa.gov and I will keep fighting to make sure every one of us is able to live the American dream and be who we are. Thank you for having me State College, it was a great day! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🇺🇸

In the last Trump Presidency, gun violence rates skyrocketed in our communities – and we can not allow that to happen again.    Back in March I discussed how my office is taking a wider approach to solving the gun violence crisis in Pennsylvania and the results we are seeing on the ground.

From our family to yours, Blayre and I wish every Pennsylvanian who celebrates a peaceful Eid al-Adha! We hope this festival bring your friends and family joy as you reflect on love and commitment.   Eid Mubarak!

Pennsylvania’s minimum wage was set in 2009 at $7.25. When I became a State Representative in 2018 one of the first bills I supported was an increase to the minimum wage to give working people more money in their pockets. Now in 2025, minimum wage is still $7.25. It’s past time to raise the wage.

From rural towns to urban centers, our main streets are where local businesses and communities thrive. I was proud to visit Corry in northwestern Pennsylvania and hear from the residents about the impact this investment will have for years to come.

Education has always been the great equalizer.

Here in Pennsylvania, we’ve raised investments in education by $2 billion to support our teachers, upgrade textbooks, expand athletics and extracurriculars, and so much more all to ensure our students have every opportunity to succeed.

Distracted driving is a serious issue and can change lives in the blink of an eye.   Beginning today in Pennsylvania it is now illegal to use a hand-held cell phone while driving. Make sure to put the phone down and keep your eyes on the road! www.pa.gov/agencies/pen...

Whether it’s afterschool or during summer, providing a safe space for children to grow is vital for every community in Pennsylvania.  In this budget, we’re looking to nearly double last year’s $11.5 million investment in these essential programs so that more kids can stay safe and have fun.

Recovering from a crime can be costly for victims. Whether it’s counseling, crime scene clean-up, or emergency shelter, the financial burden puts a strain on victims and their families.   That’s why we’re proposing a $9 million investment for victims compensation to heal families and protect lives.

Mass transit is a lifeline for Pennsylvanians. From seniors & healthcare workers to students & service workers, nearly 1 million of us rely on mass transit everyday. The Governor and I have proposed an investment of $300 million in our public transit systems to keep this Commonwealth on the move.

Private equity cannot continue to operate in our hospitals and drain them of resources. The Governor and I have taken steps to support those impacted by Crozer Hospital’s closure but the legislature must act now. @pennanurses.bsky.social

Consequences we will see if Congress & President Trump gut Medicaid as proposed:    - 13.7 million people nation-wide lose their healthcare, including 300,000 Pennsylvanians  - Risks the closure of all 25 rural hospitals in PA  - Billionaires will pay less in taxes

Every dollar the Commonwealth invests in Main Streets, we see a nearly $8 return to Pennsylvania businesses, communities, and residents. I was happy to visit Corry last week and celebrate their Main Street Matters grant to improve downtown and support local businesses.

From supporting our first responders, to investing in violence prevention strategies, we’ve made real progress in reducing gun violence in PA. During Gun Violence Awareness month we’re proud to recognize what we’ve accomplished and recommit this administration to making our communities safer.

Diverse, small, & veteran-owned businesses are the backbone of PA’s economy. Every year this administration invests in these businesses to protect PA jobs & generate wealth in every community. In this budget we hope to continue these investments to build on our economic gains & move PA forward.

As a son of a union bus driver I will never forget where I come from. The Shapiro-Davis administration is proud to partner with our brothers and sisters in labor as we continue to fight for the right of workers to organize and empower themselves against corporations.

Since taking office, this administration has increased our investments in education by more than $2B so that K-12 students are provided opportunities to play, learn, and grow as individuals. Two years in and we remain committed to our goal of fairly funding public education.

There is nothing greater than to live freely as yourself and love who you love, openly. Happy Pride Month, Pennsylvania. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Today we’re celebrating the completion of the Eagle's Nest Leadership athletic center that will now offer young people in Erie a place to exercise and be safe outside of school. Community spaces, that are open to young people, are instrumental in reducing violence and creating safe places for all.

For 16 years, Pennsylvania workers have been losing out on a raise.   Every single one of our neighboring states has raised their minimum wage. It’s time for PA to do the same.

Investing in our child care providers means:   🍎 Supporting early education teachers ✅ Expanding program access for parents 👶 Ensuring children continue to receive high-quality care   It’s a win-win for everyone.

Many of our seniors live on a fixed income and getting money back into their pockets can mean the difference between making rent, buying groceries, or affording medications. That’s why this administration expanded the Property Tax Rent Rebate Program and provided over 520,000 seniors with tax cuts.

Pennsylvania’s coal powered America.
Pennsylvania’s steel built America.   Now it is time for Pennsylvania to be a leader in energy once again. The Lightning Plan is a common sense idea that uses our resources to expand energy production, create good paying jobs, and lowers costs for everyone.

When I visited Cafe Momentum, it was clear how much this program & mentorship means to the students. PA has invested over $50M in programs like Cafe Momentum, that work to reduce community violence & provide opportunities for young people to build upon the skills they need to be successful in life.

Building on the progress we've made in the last two years, this administration is working to invest in our classrooms again for the 2025-26 school year.
By increasing education funding and supporting the programs that matter most, our students can have the freedom to chart their own course.

On this Memorial Day we honor the U.S. service members who gave their lives in defense of this country and in the freedoms we hold most dear.   We thank them for their bravery and promise to remember their sacrifices as we continue to uphold and defend the rights they gave their lives for.

My statement on Pennsylvania-made steel & Pennsylvania steel union workers:

Yesterday, I joined the Braddock Carnegie Library for their grand reopening celebration. Together with U.S. Steel, the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation and state grants, this community space is now open again to serve the public and provide space for learning, tech and creativity.

Our firefighters are stretched thin, responding to more calls every year as their numbers shrink. The Shapiro-Davis administration is working to reverse these trends by investing in our firefighters.   Grants applications are open right now for PA fire companies. Visit: www.pa.gov/services/osf....

Children under 15 account for nearly one third of firework-related injuries. As Memorial Day weekend begins, please observe the holiday responsibly and safely. For safety tips, you can visit: www.pa.gov/agencies/osf...

If you build it, they will come. ⚾️ Baseball movie or ⚡️ Pennsylvania’s business plan

Our pharmacies connect Pennsylvanians with the medicine & resources they need to stay safe & healthy throughout the year. I joined @senpisciottano.com & Rep. Markosek at the CVS Specialty Pharmacy in Monroeville & learned about the work they’re doing to provide care to people in this Commonwealth.

Any cuts to Medicaid will directly result in loss of health care, life-saving procedures & medicine, and the closing of more hospitals – all so Republicans in Congress and their billionaire friends can line their pockets & pay even less in taxes than they already do now.

Our young people deserve to have a safe place to go outside of the classroom. Non-profit Cafe Momentum received a grant last year of almost $1M to expand access to and enhance their program that serves students impacted by the justice system.

Small businesses are the economic engines and backbone of our communities. Congratulations to the graduates of the Mentor Protégé Program, helping to build a more inclusive business ecosystem across the Commonwealth.

Medicaid provides affordable healthcare to millions of Americans including seniors, children, and working families.   There is no scenario in which cuts to Medicaid don’t have a detrimental impact on Pennsylvanians and our health care systems.
