Having my semiannual battle between wanting to get out and meet guys vs my overwhelming hatred of dating apps

I feel like I'm losing my mind. Here is the transcript of what Zohran Mamdani actually said about the phrase "globalize the intifada." This is his "refusal to disavow it." This is what has people terrified. Just fucking read it. Source: podscripts.co/podcasts/the...

The problem here isn't just the answer but the question. Mamdani has denounced antisemitism and clarified his position on this random slogan *other people* chanted at a protest numerous times. This is only a "tough question" if you think it's your job to repeat bad faith Republican attacks.

Time to update the saying from “there’s always money for war” to “there’s always money for war AND MASS DEPORTATIONS”

think of how awful ICE is right now and how much harm they’re doing to our communities now literally 15x their budget instead of a taco truck on every corner we’re getting an ICE van it’s going to be an absolute nightmare

it is the Imperial Judiciary when courts say that presidents can’t unilaterally overturn constitutional text, and the Proper Order of Things when courts say that your rights rest on the whims of who happens to be in office

I and was in a meeting at a pay TV company about improving their NPS. It was high for the 3 months of service then fell off a cliff when the "free" channels we pushed started charging $. The whole meeting everyone carefully avoided talking about this obvious reason customers got pissed at us.

My roommates prefer a lighter roux for their gumbo so I made, uh, I wouldn’t call it a *light* roux, but… it is light*er* 😅

Been thinking a lot about my values and goals, and what I can do to work toward creating or joining an organization that shares them someday.

I care about testing and will continue to but after being turned down for a low-level dev position despite multiple from senior+ dev referrals and having DONE DEV WORK THERE IN THE PAST due to my "background in quality" I'm glad my work is going to give me a title change.

I always get a slight thrill when I get something working on my own for the first time

“I'm much more of a believer in boring things that let people be interesting than new, exciting and interesting technologies that make people boring and shallow” - @iris-meredith.bsky.social putting words to something i feel very strongly about as well

i know it's just advertisement but it still pisses me off when tech CEOs claim AGI will solve humanity's problems with its vast intelligence. for a lot of problems we already know the solutions, what prevents them being solved is not a lack of intelligence, but that the solutions are unprofitable

this is correct, but some questions that might be asked in response to this state of play: what is the value of "reach"? can something be good and useful if it reaches a smaller audience, or do we believe that scale is always and everywhere the goal? Has scaling to the highest reach served us well?

This weekend I refactored my log-structured database a bit to make it more unit testable, and started to outline my approach for multiple data files

WASP OR MOTH!? 🐝🤯 One of the most incredible mimics in the world, this Tiger Moth (Orcynia calcarata) looks so much like a wasp I was almost nervous holding it! 😳 There are so many tiger moths mimicking wasps in the Amazon it’s crazy! 😯🌳 How amazing is nature! 💛🖤

As a gay kid I felt I was carrying around a secret that could come bursting out of my chest at any moment. That’s why this Pride month I’m partnering with the good folks at Weyland-Yutani to-
