Yesterday was the start of the Process festival in Rīga, run by the Baltic Analog lab, it is a love letter to analog film, showcasing people who go through the BAL workshops and international guests. Next door Aiden Baker’s new band Tavare played, which I managed to catch. Spring in Rīga is busy!

Latvia for the Eurovision win! Tautumeitas totally owned it in their semi-final performance. I hope they get through, they’re the best thing Latvia has submitted in years.

Within a week Rīga has gone from a misery of an early Spring to Summer with 31 degree temperatures. Loved this misty morning. In every light it is a beautiful city.

We went to Tallinn Music Week to play on the Cindy & Kate stage. Fun was had, but the sound was frickin’ awful. Saw Oil X Gas, who were pretty awesome, and the UK band Arch Femmesis. Typically, with a trip to Tallinn, we all got sick. Perhaps it was having an interview in the snow that did it…

RIP to the greatest swordsman who ever lived.

Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys made it crystal clear: “We will never recognize any illegal occupation of Ukrainian territory.” No grey zones. No compromises. Just truth and solidarity.

A rare interview with W.G. Sebald by the brilliant James Wood, in July, 1997 (when Sebald’s only book in English was The Emigrants). It was from a series called The Writer, The Work, hosted by the PEN American Center, New York. brickmag.com/an-interview...

I didn’t even plan on going out last weekend, but at some point I ended up in my favourite bookstore / bar buying a book at 00:18. I believe I rolled home at 5am from a completely different end of Rīga. Sunday was a right-off, apart from watching Mobile Suit Gundam I.

A week of band rehearsals, Latvian music awards, finishing with a feminist March through Rīga. Tired now, but somehow I found the energy to drink beer in my favourite bar, despite falling asleep on the sofa with one of my parrots a few hours ago.

Went to Vilnius to see the exhibition on the legendary 80’s Latvian art group N.S.R.D. It filled a few gaps in my knowledge. I also got to hang with guitar-slinger extraordinaire Algis Fediajevas for a long conversation into the small hours. On Sunday, it felt like Spring was in the air.
