happy #fossilfriday! this is doedicurus, a glyptodont from the pleistocene and early holocene of south america. glyptodonts were a group of heavily armoured armadillos, some of which had clubbed tails, and at over 3m long, doedicurus was among the largest (art by julio lacerda)

happy #fossilfriday! this is ichthyovenator, a spinosaurid from early cretaceous laos. its most distinctive feature is the notched, wave-like sail on its back, which was likely used for courtship display and intraspecific recognition (art by alexander vieira)

Prognathodon currii, a giant mosasaur with an extremely robust head (quick #paleoart commission for @shamublackfish.bsky.social!)

Tewkensuchus! a mid-sized sebecosuchian from the early Cenozoic of Argentina, its name literally means "forehead crocodile" because of its diagnostic, peculiarly shaped skullroof and eyebrow bones

happy #fossilfriday! this is istiodactylus, a pterosaur from the early cretaceous of the uk and (probably) china. in a 2012 paper, witton observed that istiodactylus was adapted for a scavenging ecology, quite unique among pterosaurs (art by gabriel ugueto)

troodon more like troodon't resurrect an undiagnostic tooth taxon

Not joking in the slightest btw whoever wants some psychiatry/psycology thesis or study or homework my tourettes has like a lotta things you can write outta there, with how many factors and variables and stuff goes into it with my behaviour and how it manifests

Mamenchisaurus' brain getting pierced by a small meteorite because drawing is free

I love the contrast of such dragon-looking creatures being better parents than some mammals

Persecution Camptosaurus and Ceratosaurus (paleoart comm!)

Triceratops

20 minutes #paleostream sketches! Attenborousaurus (Happy birthday David Attenborough!!) Dakosaurus (observing a Dollocaris) Etjosuchus and Dibango.... a *real* Eocene fish described today

Barinasuchus arveloi (Poster version)

wishing a very happy birthday to the man, the myth, the legend – sir david attenborough. to celebrate the occasion, i would like to discuss attenborosaurus, an early jurassic pliosaurid named in the man’s honour (art by mark witton)

Was too tired yesterday to post it but here is finally the result of the Maevarano formation #paleostream! While not as full of species as other formations the diversity in fascinating, from small herbivores crocs over flying raptors and giant frogs to surprisingly large mammals.

Har, har, har har, har...

A young Saurosuchus is mobbed by a group of Sanjuansaurus one rainy dusk in the late triassic Ischigualasto formation. Many thanks to @convictclaude.bsky.social for the idea and research and support as well as to @literallymiguel.bsky.social for his super helpful croc crit! #paleoart #digitalart

happy #fossilfriday! this is balaenognathus, a pterosaur from late jurassic germany. similar to its close relative pterodaustro, its dentition and the shape of its beak strongly suggest that it was a filter feeder (art by beatriz grigio bornia)

like, only with the maxilla: left is Smok, right is Polonosuchus both are basically same size and shape both are from the same country similar time periods and you're telling me the authors did not even look at that??????

Lovely sebecid scrumbs to feed my children through the winter and its the youngest sebecid, notosuchian, and non-crocodilian crocodylomorph too!!!!!

Gigantspinosaurus sichuanensis with its huge lateral spikes was one of the most bizarre stegosaurs Gigantspinosaurus lived during the Late Jurassic in Asia. What do you think the function of those lateral, back-pointing spikes was? #paleoart #sciart #dinosaurs #art

it's my dad's birthday, so i thought i'd take the time to do a brief overview of his favourite dinosaur, brontosaurus 🦕⛈️ the iconic thunder lizard has had a long and complex history, from being named amidst an infamous palaeontological dispute to being considered invalid for decades

Composite skeletal, specimen guide and skull reference for Mahajangasuchus insignis!, a notosuchian that *converged* a lot to look like a crocodile

Mark even calls it "Hatzy" that's so cute

a dig site in hell creek ⛏️🦖 #acnh

While working on a skeletal of Mahajangasuchus, i really thought i was doing something wrong, but... no, it seems it really did have these PRETTY long legs?!?
