Circa 1985 - Dad never let a whiteout stop him walking in his beloved Lakes, and how I loved to follow him 🤍🤍🤍

What's an opinion you have that would make a bunch of people angry? Write it down in a notebook called, "Why would I want to make a bunch of people angry right now?" and then close that notebook and have some tea.

We don't need more remakes of old movies. We need more MUPPETS remakes of old movies.

I can never understand why children's books get left out of "great book" lists. The books we call "children's books" are really books written for an audience that includes children, but excludes no-one. They are books for EVERYONE - and if you exclude them, you miss the most important books of all!

Earlier this year I had the great pleasure of discussing the taboo topic of death & dying with Andy Coulson for his Crisis What Crisis podcast. Please consider listening - I hope it frames some important context for today's momentous vote. open.spotify.com/episode/1DXf...

Perhaps the ultimate example of a #PoliceFamily in our collections is the Claydens. Not only was Alice Bertha our first Woman Inspector with arrest powers, her father, three brothers, husband and stepson were all also Met officers. #EYAfamily #family #ExploreYourArchive

At the end of the day, don’t we all just want a bookshelf with a rolling ladder?

Ooh that’s me ☺️ 📚 🛌

IMHO individual PAs are well meaning people who have been misled. The PA role is under trained for the tasks it is deployed to meet. This is very much a policy and system issue, and not an individual PA issue. Patients, ordinary PAs, grass roots doctors and public have all been misled.

This weeks #SundayThread The Courage to Report. The verdict in this case for me highlights a need to believe victims. Let me explain news.sky.com/story/amp/ju...

Alas neither Labour UK nor Wes Streeting on here yet, but could we all agree that however MPs vote on AD next week, this is a huge opportunity for the government to announce - finally, after decades of successive governments failing dying people - proper NHS funding of palliative care?

it’s not “retreating into a bubble” to want to see posts by people you like and want them to see yours

A fascinating thread 🧵 I’m learning so much on here.

Well well glad you have caught up🤣🤪 @wecopscaroline.bsky.social

If you find yourself wondering if a new book will solve all your problems today, the answer is yes

Highly recommend reading this piece on the increasingly widespread use of PAs to replace doctors in the NHS. It’s an issue that horrifies many of us.

Don’t like a book? Don’t read it. Pretty simple.

Goddamn, The Marvels really was done dirty. This is a delightful movie. WTF is wrong with people?

All this talk about echo chambers. My take is this. I look at social media spaces as an extension of my living room, if I wouldn't want you in my home I don't want you here. And my home doesn't welcome racists, homophobia, Transphobia, misogyny and all other manners of right wingers.

daily reminder to support your local library, even if that’s just by checking out ebooks! 📚

A police officer was put in a headlock and had a gun pulled out on her. Constable Erin Lee was given the bravery award at the Merseyside Police's annual 'Community First Awards' on Tuesday, November 12 #police #policeofficer #thinblueline

The hardest thing to get used to about Bluesky is not getting nasty replies from people who don’t know the difference between ‘your’ and ‘you’re’.

I simply could never have predicted I would end up such an avid reader of Computer Weekly! But honestly, I am always reading it. Another great investigation into #policing data and computing issues: www.computerweekly.com/news/3666154...

The most fearless women of America (in no particular order) are: Letitia James Katie Porter VP Harris Fani Willis AOC Sarah Longwell Michelle Obama Jasmine Crockett Nancy Pelosi Liz Cheney Judge Chutkan Caitlin Clark E. Jean Carroll Hilary Clinton Ketanji Brown-Jackson

Hello Bluesky! I’m looking for people to connect with and learn from in areas (not limited to!) #policing, #justice, #military, #safeguarding #investigations and #criminology. I know you are here!

The biggest realisation for me so far re Bluesky is I’m not having to do a massive previous skeets check for controversy. I can follow people because I agree with their post. Because block lists mean I’m not seeing the crazies.

I appear to have a feed that’s populated with friends, colleagues, reliable sources of news & the people I follow 🫢

If you don’t follow @wecops.bsky.social then why not. Some good middle ground discussion on policing.

A sound advice

Instagram is all videos now and I miss the days when my photography had a fighting chance of being seen. So here’s an Oregon waterfall from a few years ago.

Great piece in The Doctor @bmj.com on research by @trishgreenhalgh.bsky.social et al about whether quality suffers when GP working is ever more remote and fragmented. Traditional values still alive and well in primary care, but harder to realise them in the work.

Hoping that we will be able to continue our success over here!

Completely agree. What an incredible story and the perfect person to play Lee Miller

It’s mostly white people who talk about echo chambers. Maybe you need the internet to meet people with different ideas but the rest of us do not. We know what the “other side” thinks because we deal with it every day! Everywhere! We’re fine. Carry on. Happy Saturday!
