New article! lowendmac.com/2025/farewel...

New article - my first impressions on this WallStreet PowerBook G3 I recently got. lowendmac.com/2025/saving-...

Took some more pictures of the PowerBook G3 Wallstreet which I’ll be using in an upcoming article. It won’t sit here on this desk as it’s meant for the iMac in this spot. It also wouldn’t be comfortable to use there anyway, but it looks nice in pictures.

And the Wallstreet PowerBook G3 lives on!! 266 MHz PowerPC G3, 1 MB Backside L2 4 GB IDE IBM DCTA-24090 HDD Mac OS 9.0.4 with PPC Enabler 9.0.4 ATI Rage LT Pro 4 MB 1024 x 768 TFT LCD, millions of colors 192 MB SDRAM (128 MB + 64 MB) CD Drive (Combo drive)

New article! Covered first by Greg Hrutkay of Hrutkay mods, there is still much work needed to be done for Tahoe to boot on a 2018 mini. lowendmac.com/2025/oclp-ta...

Rearranged a setup! The Monterey 7,1 iMac has a proper place again, the Mac SE boots again, and the corner looks cozy. Maybe I’ll experiment with Tahoe on the iMac since it has a real RX 580.

The display fixed itself again.

It’s nice to finally have one of these! And it’s in remarkably good shape too.. now to get a power adapter for it. The first “new” addition to the computer collection in a little while..

This pic is exactly what my dopamine-starved brain needed!

Have a Custom Mac or wanna check out a collection of them? Send them in or stop by our website - whether it's spray painted, encased in megablocks, or if it's a serious hardware mod.. It's a CustoMac indeed. lowendmac.com/customacs/

Back from the Low End Mac Mailbag is an interesting hardware experiment from a rising contributor in our FaceBook group. Thank you for sharing! It will also be featured on the "CustoMacs" section under tech specs. lowendmac.com/2025/testing...

Nice.

New article! Just about all the details for macOS Tahoe. Not the fastest to get the news out, but I hope it has all the right information and that it is of use to others. 😊 lowendmac.com/2025/macos-t...

All is well, it was just bad RAM. Guess something must’ve happened to the 16 GB kit I bought for it only a year ago

Well this was totally unexpected, being a Late 2013 21.5” with just an Iris Pro 5200. Hoping it’s just bad ram and nothing else, it’s been unexpectedly having issues lately.

My gut feelings exactly.

I think it was time to add a second display to the setup (again)

The "Indexes" have a Software section now - for OSes, all software, links, app highlight articles, the hacks index, and other OS articles. This page may change slightly over time, you may navigate to it by clicking "Software" on the site. lowendmac.com/2013/max-sof...

Since some people liked it, I figured more would like to see it outside of Social Media so I put it on the website too along with a couple more pictures. Enjoy! lowendmac.com/2025/imagine...

New article for the day - briefly looking back at the very last iPod as well as where "standalone/non-smartphone" devices generally stand nowadays. lowendmac.com/2025/6-years...

The "Linux always sucks" crowd got a hold of my last video. You know ardent adherence to Windows/Mac supremacy is just as insufferable as Linux supremacy, right? They're just tools. Chill yourself down.

Even though I have an M4 MacBook Air, I still keep a 2018 15" MacBook Pro beside me as a mobile late Intel Mac/hypervisor. In this article, I take a detailed look at what it's like to use in 2025: lowendmac.com/2025/using-a...
