Happy pi day! Local goodies.

Scientific conferences are great…but elementary school science fairs? Now that’s awesome. So impressed with kiddos and projects on composting, wind, erosion, microplastics, & more. But the best part? My daughter’s partner saying: “Oh my gosh, the science fair was so much fun.” #GirlsInSTEM

I am pleased to share that as of May 1st, I will be serving as Chair of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics of Dornsife School of Public Health of Drexel University. #episky

All MMWRs since 1993* have been archived. Thank you to our data archivists!! You can find them here: archive.org/details/cdc-...

A little levity and absolute silliness is sometimes all you need. ❤️ #DogsofBlueSky

Daily reminder to find some joy. Hug a furry friend. Keep on keeping on. #DogsofBlueSky #EpiSky

If you’re in the US and you’d like to know what projects and vital services federal grants currently fund in your state, you can search here: www.usaspending.gov And you can find the contact information for your elected representatives here: www.usa.gov/elected-offi... They need to hear from you.

I am holding on tightly to these words because this week has felt like a year. The moment demands the wisdom of ancestors.

This last week has been a lot. Hug a dog (or fine, a cat). It won’t fix the attack on science and all things good- but it will help carry on.

Per an NIH source: “Discussions with colleagues have suggested that if the universities all come together and raise hell about the delays to funding caused by not holding meetings, that might move the needle. From every state. There are well-funded universities in red states that will be impacted.”

I am begging the national media to start taking this seriously. Stop buying the claims that the framing of "temporary" or "pause." They are altering the review processes of federally funded scientific research from merit-based peer review processes to political screening by ideologues.

🧪 #PublicHealth is under attack in the US, and among those to fall may be a mainstay of #EpiSky and #MedSky : The CDC's MMWR. We at Broadly Epi want to introduce an open, searchable MMWR database as a response. It's a work in progress, but we will keep at it. www.broadlyepi.com/broadly-epi-...

A handy list of people to call.
