Glazing pots outside for a wood firing. Oh! The freedom to splash, drip & make a mess is so liberating! It also makes me feel connected to the long tradition of pottery around the world, often done out of doors. In case you're wondering, I'm testing out a Malcolm Davis carbon trap shino. + cat tax

June is Pride Month and I identify as an LGBTQ+ ally. It's among my core values that love is love, and that folks of all walks of life, gender identification and sexual preferences should able to thrive, to live their lives safely, free of harassment, hatred, assault, or worse. Be an ally too!

Oof the parallels are frighteningly familiar. Worth the 2:30 to listen.

This little bouquet of spirea boughs (which I banged into a vase after giving the bush encroaching on the front steps a hasty clip) is such a delight today. #Flowers #Spring #Spirea #Bouquet #Vignette

Another #Metallic destined for the next glaze kiln. In case it's not obvious enough, this one's about water. 💦 #ContemporarySculpture #ClayArt #CanadianCeramics #Ceramics #Art

Applying underglaze to a bisqued piece. Lots of fiddly corners and nooks to reach into. After that, there was lots of messing around with iron and manganese oxide washes to give it a "fresh from the junkyard" look. Hopefully it'll make it into a glaze kiln next weekend!

I'm girding myself to glaze some pots for the upcoming woodfiring. I've got a few more buckets to sieve + check for specific gravity. I like planning + making glazes, but I HATE applying them in general (because I'm shite at it). Also, here's a cat tax to atone for my whingeing.

Got this #Metallic back from the studio's last glaze load. I'm pleased with how it came out. The lid didn't get stuck & still slides side to side! As always, these wall pieces can be installed in any desired orientation, and combined with other Metallics. #ContemporarySculpture #CanadianCeramics
