Labour had 14 years to plan real welfare reform. Instead, we got cuts dressed as compassion, a rebellion from 108 MPs, and a policy that makes life harder for the people it claims to help. Here’s what they got wrong - and what real reform could have looked like.

The Minnesota shooter apparently used data broker websites to find the home addresses of the people he shot and murdered. Congress has had years to do something about data brokers and they've sided with the tech lobby over and over again. Their inaction is deadly.

This is the *real* rationing and “death panels.” ‘Merica.

Just putting this out there in case anyone needs to know. Pssst, FEMA.

Our latest on the seasonal worker visa. What jumped out at me when reading this government-commissioned report is that farm-owners will quite openly say that they prefer migrant workers to accrue huge levels of debt, because this pushes them to work harder so that they can pay it off.

How about rounding up the CEOs who are exploiting workers rather than the hardworking laborers producing their profits? Just an idea...

This guy stole $10 million from the employees of his nursing home to buy himself a luxury yacht and Cartier watches. He PLED GUILTY. And because his Mom gave Trump $1 million, he just got a pardon. And this story barely makes the news today. WTF. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/27/u...

if this passes, everything America supposedly stands for is done. There's a reason they did this in the dark and want it passed before the midterms. We either all stand up together or we hide in our individual attics. Big Blue States can spearhead a national strike. Any time now.

Work requirements hurt poor people AND are a waste of money. Arkansas spent $26 million on administrative costs for work requirements — and saw no increase in employment. Georgia’s program cost $40 million in one year — 80% of that went to administrative and consulting costs.

CEO pay is up 1,085% since 1978, while typical worker pay is up just 24%.  Why do we always hear "we can't afford to pay our workers more" but never "we can't afford to pay our CEO more"?

Thames Water insists that the £3m it has dished out to top managers are not bonuses - which are currently illegal for the company - but rather 'retention payments'. So that's alright then?

BREAKING: The politicians who take thousands of pounds in expenses and stuff their faces at a tax-payer subsidised canteen and get drunk at a tax-payer subsidised bar and enjoy a tax-payer subsidised second home want you to know it's wrong to take handouts from the state x

The War on Terror, per Brown Uni, killed over 4 million & cost $8 trillion over 24 years. It ramped up Islamophobia & shredded civil liberties. And here we are today with a Republican president meeting a former Al Qaeda leader. If only some of us had been listened to in 2001.

Labour are teaching us that if you have over 400 MPs and are in the first year of government, so no need for elections until 2029, you should definitely focus your policies on what a party with five MPs is calling for, rather than doing what's best for the country,

This has to be sorted NOW Climate breakdown will only make the situation worse -much worse No soil, no food, no people www.theguardian.com/environment/...

He's always thought exchanging money for goods or services is a "rip-off," which is why he refuses to pay his bills or pay contractors. But, of course, he always makes sure to get the goods before he refuses to pay. That's not something we can do with China.

Exactly

Labour likely to take a total drubbing in today’s election & it’s fully deserved. The lesson I fear they’ll fail to learn is: You cannot win on anti-migrant hatred. The right wing press will never tell their voters you have done enough. And meanwhile, of course, you lose all the rest of us #r4today

Two former Wells Fargo executives were fined $8.5M by the Biden administration for covering up the bank's infamous fake account scandal. Trump just slashed those fines to a paltry $150,000 after Wells Fargo gave $1M to his inauguration. See how this works?
