As a musician and historian, the link between music and morale, is present, in military history. This was especially true in the Second World War. There is a campaign to create a memorial for ENSA at the National Memorial Arboretum. It is a memorial Id love to see unveiled. ensamemorialappeal.co.uk

New Post for VE Day - Victory at a Cost - major-history.co.uk/2025/05/04/v...

At least the hood kept some of the wind out on yesterday’s walk.

Nice little notification. Come and have a look at major-history.co.uk

New post major-history.co.uk/2025/03/29/f... is now live.

So chuffed that my blog, major-history.co.uk has had its first view from Canada 🇨🇦

Looking at digitised photos from the First World War Egypt and Palestine and Gallipoli. That moment the photos change from that almost “holiday photography” to photography of war and the cost of war is definitely something that hits it home a little bit more.

Research for a future blog post… defence of the North East of England in the Second World War. Link in bio to the blog.

A little later than I had planned. But a new post is live on my blog on the Bombardment of Hartlepool, Whitby and Scarborough. Link in bio.

New post on Pegasus Bridge live now on Major History. www.major-history.co.uk

Eventually trying to get a history blog up and running. majorhistory1917.wordpress.com

As one shining light of the American Presidency passes away… I fear we are about to see America ushered into a new Dark Age made more protracted by the ignorance of medical science.

Well I’ve decided to try Wordpress. majorhistory1917.wordpress.com

Can someone recommend a website builder for a history blog

War diary segment yet again a weather report.

A couple minutes of bird app reminds me how much of an echo chamber it is and how little of what I want to see I can see anymore.

academia.edu/resource/wor... Really need to get back into writing. But here’s one of my older projects.

30° to 40°F on 16th February 1916. Not the kind of information I hoped this war diary would contain.

Working my way through a Battalion War Diary to find it barely says much at all on the war, but more on weather. A little disappointing and makes my research harder.

🚨 THIS WEEK🚨 💣 SOE ops, coastal command, minelaying—the Halifax did it all! @lydiajane13.bsky.social sheds light on the versatility of this unsung WWII hero. 🎧 Don’t miss out on this fascinating episode: 🎙️ Listen now: https://pod.fo/e/2839c6 #history #podcast #WWII #aviation

After a brilliant weekend, which included seeing my best friend tie the knot and after the completion of a project last week. I’m rather selfishly enjoying the time out of work, just reading and catching up on life. New projects to start soon.

Does anyone know an easy way of posting a google earth tagged map of locations for a history project onto a website. It’s part done. Just need to get it finished and posted (somehow)

Photos from Fridays Festival of Remembrance, between writing, organising, planning and researching and securing permissions for the war memorial, a year of work.

So glad to be able to see a feed that actually represents what I want to see. How long it lasts… we will see.

Does anyone use academia to publish their papers.

Definitely need to catch up on this one.

A little bit busy deep in a community history project. Will be moving from X eventually to here.
