Sorry @owenaudax.bsky.social , I couldn't see a way to comment on Strava, so I'm commenting here. I've tried quite hard to think of a 200km challenge that would stretch you, and all I can do is come up with ludicrous things like "do 200 a day every day in July", which I bet you could just do anyway🚴

Home early, a few G&Ts listening to the end of the cricket, lovely evening, albeit windy, so had to ride. Chose to ride tail-wind out to get a training-wind back, maximising off road trails into deepest Herts. 20/29km off road - fabulous. Although 3 drivers tried to knock me off, 2 on byways 😡🤷‍♂️🚵

Not been riding enough lately, and missing out on the great weather. Left work on time, cooked dinner while the solar system was still generating. Then enjoyed 90 mins out on the trails - 14km off road, sharing the trails with plenty of runners, dog walkers and walkers, and a few riders. Wonderful!

I went on a business trip in the 90s to Santa Cruz, California. Standard greeting at breakfast on the hotel veranda was "another shitty day in paradise". But clear blue skies for weeks is normal there. It isn't in a temperate climate like the UK, and this week is the third extended period this year!

Always wanted to ride Wayfarer, original was ridden in 1919 with a lot less tarmac than now. Fabulous ride in great conditions, I'm buzzing #classic #oldschoolMTB I'm going to need a lie down in a cool dark room now for a bit...

Pit stop treat at "good news, bad news" time on today's classic ride

I rode Llandegla blue and red trails on Monday for the first time in 10 years - they've changed a lot with some areas growing like crazy, some being harvested, and some destroyed by storms. My skills have decayed and are not up to the gnarliest bits of the red, but I still had as much fun as ever 🚵🚵

Planned a classic route for tomorrow. It isn't that challenging, but in my current fitness/conditioning and with the super heat forecast it is likely going to be "fun". A lot cooler than forecast this evening, so instead of relaxing on the patio I've packed my stuff for the ride - the earliest ever

Oh yes some more!

Oh yes!

super wobbly coffee table this evening in the first night in the rental - couldn't really believe it when wifey shoved a 5mm slate coaster in one corner and all was fine

Rocked up in north east Wales, walked for two hours in intolerable heat (27C), got to the rental and it pissed it down for the rest of the evening. That's half of the Wales I remember growing up in...

Huh, summer snuck up on us this year. Clwydians tomorrow for riding and walking for a week. A little over 10 mins to Llandegla on the bike, what can possibly go wrong?

Off to the Clwydians next week. First time, any walking or routes?

Just doing an introspective thing - today I've encouraged 2 amazing athletes to not give up when they can do more. Then I looked at myself and realised I'm not practicing what I preach. Time to step up and enter the pain cave at every opportunity

My wife found these fab things in pound land for, erm, a pound I think. Work so well for potatoes and carrots, especially as you can just pick them up and move them if you need to. Must get out on the bike more though...

Should have been out riding today, but instead cleared the remnants of the spring bulbs at last and put 1.5 cubic metres of horse manure down. The contrast looks great for a day or two, so enjoying an evening in the garden while it lasts. I'll ride tomorrow

Hey @cyclingmikey.bsky.social - great to see you starting to post on the good side at last - I've missed your content, keep it up please 😍

Just watching bbc4, Bruce Springsteen and his E Street band from 1975. It's great music, but there are absolutely no females on stage out of 10s of performers. Sigh. Dark ages, and reminds me how much I appreciate female musicians of all ilks. (For my kids, full stop is intentional)

Chapeau to Simon Yates today - fab ride in multiple dimensions! I was on an epic walk (33km, 8 hours), so I stayed off socials all day, worked well, and really enjoying TV highlights late on. Owen, Graeme, Steve, Miss Omar, and others had fab days too, as have all of you - keep rocking it!

Really enjoying the aerobars on my MTB that the fabulous @bikefit.bsky.social fitted me onto. The 4cm risers mean I am not looking at my front wheel anymore, no shoulder discomfort and I'm finding I'm on the bars most of the time - great! Only thing is that my arms are starting to chafe on the pads🤷‍♂️

In fingers news, after the freezer removal finger trap incident ages ago, it doesn't hurt anymore but is slowly growing out. Looks pretty cool though...

Tools Holland rocking it again tonight - such a great musician

GB folks, and maybe others... Just watching Laurence Fox in a re-run (Lewis). I think he is an arse now in his political career, but in hindsight he also acted like a total arse in Lewis. (I don't normally do politics stuff, but Laurence needs calling out, as an arse)

(internet rant) There have been 12 stages of the Giro so far. I watch highlights, and I've seen 9/12 results before highlights despite me being pretty vigilant about avoiding most of the internet. Why can't there be a cookie or something that says "keep me away from <this>" - tech isn't hard!

I like keeping streaks going. The worst was in one lockdown summer when I had to ride my bike every day the sun came out - that was hard. This one is 1 hour of tracked activity every day, and just over 6 months now. Occasionally, I struggle to get out, but keeping the streak going really helps...

Checking out some of the new Enfield rewilding efforts, and 17km off road in a 23km ride from North London. Trent Park was fab, busy in places, and super overgrown for 500m - cue shredded arms - but great riding. Looking forward to doing it again, so much better than working...
