Tbh more candidates for office need to adopt the "Chicago Alderman back to school backpack giveaway" campaign strategy.

I think this isn't so hard of a decision to square. Surely many of my friends would have said their 2024 votes for Biden and then Harris were not votes for genocide, while acknowledging that the Democrats weren't going to push for sanctions and an immediate ceasefire in February 2025.

One thing I'm curious about is, I can think of multiple schools whose profiles have rocketed academically and athletically since 2000, but I don't think we're adding elite schools. What's it take to get Wash U or Wake Forest talked about like Duke, or to get Georgia Tech on Berkeley's level?

I think I need to watch Torque

I know we're all having a good laugh here but there is something charming about this, as opposed to the insipid horndogitude of the This Soap Isn't For Women company selling products made from Sydney Sweeney's bathwater

The IL-9 race could be about so much - Lake Michigan, two research universities, immigration, major LGBTQ+ districts, public transit - and it's ultimately going to be a referendum on supporting/critiquing an entirely different country, isn't it

Gee I remember being told A) that doing this was impossible, impossible, absolutely impossible; B) that even if it were possible, if Democrats did it, then Republicans would do it—with the unspoken corollary that if Democrats didn't do it, then checkmate! Republicans would not be able to. Anyway,

Trumpism as an ideology has recently become very clear to me: Turn America into a country club. A pyramid scheme where there's always another rung to buy up into. It's something the Democrats still can't accept. www.garbageday.email/p/the-united...

I don't disagree with this but here's my structural question: in Chicago, I know that the parks, public transit, and police are all part of separately budgeted organizations. So, if funds were reallocated from CPD, could they even feasibly go to public facilities in train stations and parks?

Covid killed millions of people worldwide and the damage that it did to societal cohesion and democratic governance may still have eclipsed the physical damage

The "trophy wife" anecdote is part of a story about the plight of William Levitt, who built whites-only suburbs (which Trump doesn't mention, natch), framing his eventually faltering career as a cautionary tale about losing "momentum."

The Liberty Biberty guy knows it's "Liberty." He says it a bunch of times in the first ad, and only says "Biberty" once. He knows. Liberty Mutual knows. They are LYING to you.

If you're thinking of dunking on this, the piece isn't written by Matty, it's even better: by a consultant on Paul Vallas' campaign. So I'm sure it's 100% good faith critique!
