Mark Twain wrote: "History doesn't repeat itself, but it often rhymes." DOGE was the title of the ruler of the Venetian Republic, until Napoleon dissolved the republic in 1797. The Doge was elected by Venetian aristocracy from the most prosperous family. Lots of rhyming here.
