Eclectic, inert, nerdish, a collection of spare parts. Niche Doctor Who references a forte. Masquerades as an academic with a political bent, tho mostly moans about how and why the current system doesn't work. Once wrote something something resilience.

But this is on the money. Particularly on the 'two-tier system' engrained by pseudo-inclusion to service financial imperatives of larger institutions. The student experience is beyond breaking point wonkhe.com/blogs/the-st...

#academicsky - is this the future of UK HE? It's a hodgepodge of standard regional theory - agglomerative, polycentric, functionalist, & fundamentally urban centric. But does your institution fit? Universities should be architects of economic & social transformation wonkhe.com/blogs/univer...

CNN: We have breaking news now from the Pentagon. CNN can now report that roughly 500 Marines are being mobilized in response to the protests in Los Angeles.

Hmmm. Report from #Madleen that the vessel is 100 nautical miles from #Gaza and now subject to communication jamming. Can't help but worry the Israeli military are gearing up to board or attack the #FreedomFlotilla. In other news - Haaretz reports 106 Palestinians killed in Gaza yesterday.

Catching up with last week's Poker Face, and as good as it always is this one is a work of demented genius. #gerbilmurder #sloppyjoseph

Well talk about a game of two halves. Just the halves were spliced together randomly veering chaotically from "ohhh, yeah that's fun and in character" to "oooh, no, that's stupid and contrived". Yes talking Doctor Who.

Me too. Two weeks was ridiculous. Six weeks tokenistic. And from a body that should know better - worrying.

BREAKING: An Israeli airstrike on a school-turned-shelter has killed at least 25 Palestinians, mostly women and children, Gaza's Health Ministry said. The school was hit three times while people slept, setting their belongings ablaze, they added.

I see the New JNCHES negotiations have concluded. Pretty much same outcome as last year in terms of the extras outwith the remit of UCEA to negotiate. 1.4% pay offer (plus usual annual increment for those eligible/not at top of pay bands) due to sector finances. www.ucea.ac.uk/our-work/col...

One for the GIS/AI/Geography/ES/ecology nerds. Is this the future of government environmental monitoring and data gathering? And if so, who on earth is selling them this stuff? #peat

I still think represents the most shocking void in the UK’s COVID response - when the largest biomedical facility offered to undertake testing (many universities did the same) the government didn’t even answer. The cost would have been minimal. But no profit for private companies… is that it?

Congratulations to my DGES colleague @woodszzp.bsky.social on this richly deserved honour 👏👏
