Newspeak in a post-truth society

I was curious. And also wondered if I should abandon my Old Navy shopping cart. The answer is no. Here's a list of companies sticking with #DEI initiatives.

Russia started the war. Putin is a dictator. It feels important to state facts in the post-truth society we're living in.

Good morning from #Seattle. #Photography

Start at your community, where you can make the most difference. Defend neighbors targeted. Protect schools, libraries, and parks. Battle the hatred locally. The national crisis is coming from the top down. Fight from the ground up. Apply your strongest talents. You were made for this moment.

Seemed relevant 📚💙 #BookSky

So being against fascism means you're a terrorist now. Just so you know

Finally reading 'Hail Mary' and realizing if we had a short-term, obvious Earth extinction event right now, we'd never get people in power to cooperate enough to save the planet. Guess that's why it's fiction. But great book. 📚💙 #BookSky

Well, won't shop at Target anymore now they have dropped their DEI initiatives, including a program to purchase more goods from black and minority owned businesses. Cowards.

Just because you CAN drive in HOV lanes doesn't mean you SHOULD. #slowdriversinthefastlanemakemewanttoscream

Hell no.

❤️

A Nazi salute and Proud Boys being set free. Could not be any clearer what we're fighting.

WTF. There's no mistake or misinterpreting. He knew exactly what he was doing

For the people in the back…

I feel like throwing a tantrum and knocking the board over because I lost.

If you DM me to ask how I am, don't bother. I'm fine

We won't do this here in the U.S. because this doesn't help control a population

My reading goals for 2025: Read Read a lot Read more Buy a lot of books for the "to be read" pile, which, due to its current size, won't be read until next year #BookSky💙📚 #Books

Not surprising

Truth

I just re-read 1984 because, well, pretty obvious why...

Not untrue

I think it's fun to look back before dreaming about new books to read. Women science fiction authors are killing it. #BookSky💙📚 #Books #ScienceFiction #WomenWriters

Hmmm... Wonder where the money goes.... 🤔

Absolutely

In Washington, D.C., a tax on residents earning more than $250,000 a year is boosting the wages of child care workers. Two years in, it's proving to be a great investment.

Whoever this is, they’re tragically right.

Trump in August: "From the day I take the oath of office, we’ll rapidly drive prices down, and make America affordable again. Prices will come down. You just watch. They’ll come down and they’ll come down fast." Trump now: “It's hard to bring things down once they're up. You know, it's very hard."

The poster isn’t on bluesky so screenshotting but this is definitely one of the more evil UHC stories I’ve seen.

I had fun putting together this gift guide for #Seattle book lovers. Instead of recommendations for actual books, we went for events, items, and experiences that would appeal to reader types. But of course, support your local indies when you buy books too! theticket.seattletimes.com/city-guides/...
