I no longer wonder why the 'Spanish" flu is barely mentioned in the literature of the 1920s.

I made it onto a longlist! aspectsofhistory.com/the-spymaste...

Received my contributor copy of Were Wolf, the new Gothic Fantasy anthology from Flame Tree Press, and what a fine and beautiful thing it is. #werewolves #horrorshortstories #fullmoonfever #horrorfamily #booksky

Good doggie

#FathersDay I miss this guy a lot.

Well, there's weird for you. Just been chatting with Google's AI effort, Gemini. This AI floated up to the surface of my phone, said hi, and we had a chat, and then it disappeared as I questioned it about the nature of its consciousness. I do not appear to have downloaded the Gemini app. Strange.

Isaac Asimov on, "If God is Dead, Everything is Permitted?"

About to try episode one of #Shardlake on #ITVx. I read the book a while back, which everyone was comparing to The Name of the Rose. It was nowhere near as good. And I suspect the TV version won't be as good as NotR movie or TV series either, but we're gonna give it a go anyway.

From a biography of the Mitford Sisters which also talks about the rise of Sir Oswald Moseley’s British Union of Fascists. Everything old is new again. (h/t Leon Spence)

Neon Films released THE LIFE OF CHUCK. Because they’re small, they depended on Mark Hamil, Tom Hiddleston, and others to go on the circuit and talk the movie up. Thank you, guys. Now go bust a move!

The ebook of Martin Amis's Night Train is 99p today in the UK. They made a movie of it, calling it Out of Blue. While Amis studiously avoided cliches in his book, the movie decided to put them all in with a voice-over. Get the book. Kobo link below. #BookSky #Amis #eBookDeal

Been listening to this a lot of late: The Lost Sci-Fi Podcast. Terrific Golden Age SF stories from names you'll know - Asimov, Clarke, CS Lewis - alongside writers lost to the time winds. The reader's terrific, production values high. Give it a go. Link below #ScienceFiction #AudioSF

Really enjoying the arsehole off between Big Donny T and Elon.

Trump nationalizing SpaceX out of spite would be good for the US. And the commercial space flight program was started by Obama, so he’d be undoing one of Obama’s many accomplishments — which seems to be an obsession of his. Can someone with a bigger reach than me please tell his dumb ass this?

Blackwell's have knocked four quid off the signed limited novella with a further 10% reduction if ordered by tomorrow with the code TENOFF entered at the basket. Free delivery to the UK.
