The Department for Education has announced an increased investment in mental health support teams in schools. This is a positive step towards helping young people get the early support they need. We want to see every child supported, and for an improvement in young people's wellbeing.

Trustee away in Manchester yesterday. delighted our colleagues working with young people shared insight & experience to deepen Trustees understanding of all we do @childrenssociety.bsky.social appreciate colleagues time & Trustees ongoing support @nickcookuk.bsky.social @markrusselluk.bsky.social

At 19 Hannah was one of the youngest runners in @LondonMarathon - she ran for @childrenssociety.bsky.social and to raise awareness for children’s mental health If you want 2mins of pure inspiration as a young person literally runs the extra mile for her generation watch this! 👇

Every child should grow up safe, happy, and hopeful. Early intervention can help stop crisis in its tracks and get young people the help and care they need. #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek

Teenagers in the UK report some of the lowest levels of life satisfaction and happiness in Europe. This #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, we’re calling for urgent action to keep teenagers safe. Will you join us? act.childrenssociety.org.uk/page/168847/...

It’s been a privilege to be in Calverton in Nottinghamshire to officially open our gorgeous new @childrenssociety.bsky.social bookshop! So much work has gone into this and it will help us raise even more money to change children’s lives!

Lovely to see our Regional Policy and Public Affairs Manager @cllrgeorgiapower.bsky.social with @markrusselluk.bsky.social at the launch of a new @childrenssociety.bsky.social shop in Nottingham today #TeamTCS

We're encouraged by the mentions of the national wellbeing measurement in the House of Lords yesterday. The #ChildrensWellbeingAndSchoolsBill must enable more informed & effective methods to improve young people’s wellbeing. Watch our Chair, Bishop Libby Lane 👇

One of the hardest things I’ve ever done - run a marathon for @childrenssociety.bsky.social but also one of my proudest moments If you fancy running London - take a look at the link below 👇

The Piano with @claudiawinkleman.bsky.social may be one of my favourite TV programmes. It reduces me to tears every time! This episode from Sheffield is awesome! #ThePiano

We @childrenssociety.bsky.social are standing with colleagues from across the children's sector in calling for an end to the legal physical punishment of children. It’s absolutely right that children have the same legal protection as adults www.childrenscommissioner.gov.uk/news-and-blo...

The Children’s Society has campaigned for over a decade to make uniforms more affordable. The upcoming #ChildrensWellbeingAndSchoolsBill is set to reduce uniform costs for families across England, saving parents £50 a year. Read more 👇 uk.news.yahoo.com/schools-bill...

Such a privilege to be in London today to cheer @childrenssociety.bsky.social runners at the London Marathon and to say thank you for raising so much money to change children’s lives for the better! Such a truly inspiring day #TeamTCS

I never cease to be amazed by the fantastic people who raise money for @childrenssociety.bsky.social I’m in awe of Will, James and Andrew as they drive their miniature bus from Lands End to John O’Groats!! Please support if you’re able! 👇 www.littlebusbigride.co.uk

A privilege for @childrenssociety.bsky.social to work with an inspiring group of young people from @oasisuk.bsky.social Academy in Southampton, and hear them share their stories about the impact of poverty with a group of MPs. We need the government child poverty strategy to deliver real change

Yesterday, we hosted an event in Parliament with @oasisuk.bsky.social to present our report: A Chance at Childhood. One young person said: “We stand before you today not just as students, but as witnesses to the silent struggles of young people in our community trapped in poverty."

Proud to join @childrenssociety.bsky.social @oasisuk.bsky.social @unicef.org in listening to young people about their experiences and calling on the Government to invest in childhood for a brighter future. Far too many children in the UK are growing up in poverty, denied the opportunity to thrive.

Child poverty is more than numbers – it’s about the day to day lives of children who don’t have enough. Today, we’re in Parliament to present our new report: A Chance at Childhood that explores poverty through the eyes of young people. www.childrenssociety.org.uk/information/...

Nearly 40,000 children experienced a wait of 2 years+ for support. Hannah could run around the world 5x in that time. In the second episode following Hannah’s journey to the #LondonMarathon, she visits Time for young people in Newham - our emotional wellbeing support space⭐️

It’s always a privilege to welcome @childrenssociety.bsky.social Royal President and as ever we are so encouraged by her support and encouragement for our work

Yesterday, the Government gave an update on their plans to address the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (#IICSA) recommendations. The Children’s Society CEO, @markrusselluk.bsky.social, said:

So sorry to read in today’s Times that Valerie Howarth has died. She was the first CEO of Childline and a passionate advocate for reforms to protect children from abuse. I met her on a number of occasions and always was inspired by her wisdom and heart. May she rest in peace

A week on from @childrenssociety.bsky.social visit to 10 Downing St to talk @netflix.com Adolescence series I’ve written a blog to share my reflections www.childrenssociety.org.uk/what-we-do/b...

Last week my @childrenssociety.bsky.social colleagues @nerys-a.bsky.social and Sarah were invited to meet PM Keir Starmer to discuss the issues raised by Netflix drama #Adolescence Nerys has written a brilliant blog about her optimism after the meeting www.childrenssociety.org.uk/what-we-do/b...

Always a privilege to send thank you cards to colleagues in @childrenssociety.bsky.social marking big work anniversaries each month! Today I say thank you for 140 years of committed service! We’ve such an amazing team!

Netflix’s ‘Adolescence’ exposed the secret language of emojis sometimes used by teenagers. This exchange means: “You’re going to be fine,” followed by, “I am depressed.” What’s important is that every adult in a young person’s life feels able to start the conversation.

Teenagers are facing a complex mix of challenges, pushing their wellbeing to a concerning low. Aged 19, Hannah has advocated for more safe spaces for teenagers to get support since 2021. Now, she’s taking her support a step further by running the #LondonMarathon

Today's roundtable at No. 10 Downing Street marks a crucial step forward, but it is only the beginning. We're urging investment in early mental health support, accessible services, and systemic changes to ensure every teenager has the help they need, long before crisis point.

So good to see my friend @katecollinsuk.bsky.social - I absolutely LOVE the incredible life changing work that @teenagecancertrust.bsky.social do. These extraordinary gigs bring such joy and raise awareness and money to support the amazing work this charity do

So pleased to be at the Royal Albert Hall tonight to support our friends @katecollinsuk.bsky.social and @teenagecancertrust.bsky.social as they raise awareness for the amazing work they do. It’s also pretty awesome to be here for The Corrs!

Delighted with the outcome of this recent evaluation of @childrenssociety.bsky.social & @carerstrust.bsky.social Young Carers in Schools Programme - supporting schools to shine a light on the all too often hidden young carers in every school

We are concerned that the Chancellor has missed an opportunity with the #SpringStatement to provide vital support to children, young people and their families

Read our full response to today’s #SpringStatement 👇

We’re sharing the Government’s new listening exercise, Deliver You, asking 10-25 year olds for their views on youth services. If you work with young people, help them have their say in the development of services: www.iwill.org.uk/NYS-Deliver-... Survey closes Wednesday 16 April.

I can’t stop thinking about #adolescence - the Netflix show is a profound achievement, asking deep questions about the role we all play in raising our children, highlighting issues @childrenssociety.bsky.social recognise every day in our work We mustn’t give up on this generation of adolescents

Netflix’s Adolescence has sparked national conversation about the serious challenges facing teenagers. A concerning mix of pressures are driving teenagers' wellbeing to a record low. Every adult in a young person’s life has a role to play: listening, supporting and offering them the help they need.

A real privilege to be in Kent today to talk to an audience of head teachers from the Diocese of Rochester about @childrenssociety.bsky.social #GoodChildhoodReport as well as our Roadmap for a Good Childhood. So inspired by their enthusiasm for our work!

How on earth can a country that bans Pride Marches be allowed to remain as a member of the European Union? This is a chilling development, the right to assembly is a fundamental human right. www.bbc.com/news/article...

Young carers have more responsibilities than most their age. Phoebe has been taking care of her mother for as long as she remembers. Following #YoungCarersActionDay this week, read Phoebe’s story of how she transformed her wellbeing and future: www.childrenssociety.org.uk/what-we-do/b...

Quite a day!

I was delighted, with @nerys-a.bsky.social and @mrjoejenkins.bsky.social to meet with @childrenssociety.bsky.social Royal President, HRH The Duchess of Gloucester, at Kensington Palace yesterday, and update her on our work. As ever so grateful for her amazing support and encouragement

We’re delighted to open a *brand new* charity shop in #HerneBay, with support from award-winning journalist, author and mental health advocate @notrollergirl.bsky.social, to help support our vital work with young people. Visit a shop near you 👉 www.google.co.uk/maps/search/...

It was so good to be in Herne Bay in Kent today for the official opening of @childrenssociety.bsky.social newest shop! Our central team, and Ben the store manager, have done an awesome job! Every pound raised will help us change even more children’s lives!

Government has amended the Children’s Wellbeing Bill to include many other public bodies as corporate parent for children in care & care leavers. This will make a big difference in prioritising the needs of care experienced young people and we @childrenssociety.bsky.social warmly welcome it

Today our pals @barnardos.org.uk launch this important report. Too many families are unable to afford fresh food. This chimes with @childrenssociety.bsky.social #GoodChildhoodReport we must ensure children have better access to fresh food #NourishingTheFuture www.barnardos.org.uk/research/nou...
