Vance insisted “this is not going to be some long, drawn-out thing.” Someone should tell him that in war, the other side also has a vote.

I said the same in my own post this morning, but Jeffrey says it with more panache.

Brilliant thread.

Diplomacy gains far more than cyber or kinetic attacks in retarding Iran's nuclear program. The 2010 Stuxnet worm delayed it by 1.5 years. The Israel/US attacks by maybe 2-5 years. The 2015 Iran deal was for 15 years had Trump not killed it. (My figures, NYT theme.) www.nytimes.com/2025/06/22/u...

A vital detail. The 60% HEU stockpile will speed Iran's now certain rush to reconstitute its nuclear capability. 'A high-ranking Iranian political source confirmed that "most" of Iran's stockpile of enriched uranium kept in secure locations.' tinyurl.com/yucvyzhc

Such BS that Trump OK'd Israel's bombing of Iran because his 60-day deadline for making a deal had expired and June 13 was the 61st day. Trump's first mention of 60 days was a letter he sent to SL Khamenei on March 7. So, the 61st day would have been May 7. The deadline was meaningless.

It would be the worst of all outcomes: the US embroiled in another war of choice in the Middle East and Iran gets the bomb anyway, and quicker.

‪@dandrezner.bsky.social‬ may be on to something here. danieldrezner.substack.com/p/donald-tru...

They are trying to whitewash history. Signs at the Manzanar and Minidoka National Historic Sites, where Japanese-Americans were incarcerated during WWIi, as well as at other national historic sites and parks encourage guests to report any information that is deemed to disparage US history.

Excellent assessment. Iran wasn't stalling, and offered significant concessions in the negotiations. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

This won’t stop them from continuing to lie about it, of course.

Unbelievably petty, and totally contrary to the principle of freedom of speech. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/17/w...

The France24 roundtable persuaded me that Israel’s purpose is not to degrade the nuclear program, but rather to topple Iran’s regime.

Purposely not marching in step?

Oustanding take by an Army vet. The active participation of soldiers at the political rally held by President Trump at Ft Bragg violated principle, policy, and custom.

Trump’s role in Israeli ruse over the attack contradicts Rubio’s claim of no US involvement. www.timesofisrael.com/how-an-israe...

Trump was too weak to stand up the hawks and powerless to stop Netanyahu's war. They two will have co-ownership of the ensuing disaster. www.iiss.org/online-analy...

My take on Israel’s attack on Iran. www.iiss.org/online-analy...

Important distinction between preventive and preemptive.

What a tragedy. Trump set this disaster in motion in 2018 when he pulled out of the JCPOA while Iran was honoring its provisions. Now I expect it will pull out of the IAEA entirely and rush to build a bomb.

Trump is deliberately sabotaging one of America's greatest assets.

Superb analysis of why Trump’s dissing of feds is so dangerous.

Let me get this straight. ICE ignores a judge’s order and flies men to Djibouti anyway. Then it blames the judge for the conditions in which the people are held there. www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/...

Thank you. Representative Raskin. This is what Congressional oversight looks like. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/05/u...

The threat is homegrown.

Should he be labeled anti-Semite for saying so?

It’s almost as though Putin disdains Donny.

Corruption indeed.

Indeed, it’s the opposite of “making America great again.”

The courts will surely block Kristi Noem’s revocation of Harvard’s permission to enroll international students. So why’d she do it? Probably because Trump told her to harass Harvard any way possible.

King Donald's giant photo on the Mall comes just after his Middle East visit. Just a coincidence? www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/202...

Got to cut USAID, Medicare, science and medical programs. But no problem proposing $175 billion for a golden dome that won’t work.

I take it back; Steve Witkoff actually has accomplished something of late. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/19/u...

Calling all signs.

I wonder if Mexico is considering drone strikes against the American merchants who supply most of the guns that are fueling Mexican drug violence.

In seeking to negotiate a new nuclear deal with Iran, Trump’s team is hampered by inconsistent messaging and inexperience.

If a new Iran nuclear deal is close, then it means it will be very much the old deal. But I doubt Trump understands that it would mean Iran continuing enrichment, which sometimes is a red line for him and sometimes not. www.reuters.com/world/trump-...

In other words, not only corrupt but a national security threat.

At IISS, we call the body of water just "The Gulf."

Welcoming Whites who don’t meet the refugee criteria while denying entry and services to non-Whites who do is Trump’s most blatant racism yet. www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/...

"It's the difference between a kayak and a battleship" -- why building a Golden Dome over the US would be so much harder than Israel's Iron Dome. Leave it to @armscontrolwonk.bsky.social to come up with the striking simile. I belatedly came across the NPR article. www.npr.org/2025/04/22/g...
