I used to do lots of things, now I mostly attempt to keep small boys in one piece and get bossed around by a tiny cat.

The guidance on using generative AI for REF surely should just be "Don't", no?

Last night we halfheartedly agreed that we could make ice cream at home 'soon' and 3 & 5 have just remembered that conversation so that obviously means we are making ice cream right now on Sunday morning.

Waking up at 5am for no particular reason does at least leave time for chopping the legs off the most battered pair of school trousers to make shorts. The spectacle created by attempting to dress him for a predicted 20 degree temperature range AND crazy hair day remains to be seen.

Talking to people about a career change in the midst of all this is definitely a choice I am making, oh god.

Several of the preschool friends' mums are studying international relations. The thousand yard stares are getting to be something else.

And 5YO rounds off the day by diving off his chair sideways and splitting his lip on the back of the one beside it. I don't know if my nerves can take another decade of this.

I am playing Gris, a gentle little platform puzzle game and have given myself a blister on my finger. This is why I a) don't play video games much and b) why my husband mocks me relentlessly while I do.

Preschool birthday party this afternoon, and wee man is so knackered that he came home and put his pajamas on off his own bat.

Will Ulster Ulster this? Will Stormers Stormers it? Will they cancel each other out? Always a good night for the blood pressure.

Having to substantially readjust our thinking about appropriate spring clothing for 5YO due to realisation that unlike us, our offspring attend schools with actual insulation and functioning central heating. His da is going to have to cope with him owning bodywarmers.

Went to dispatch colleagues to Hatch and Sons for their lunch when they're up in Dublin next week only to discover they closed in 2022. Damn it. May have been the best lunch in Dublin.

On the Belfast City flight path it is lockdown quiet.

Well that'll be a nice quiet morning for Greater London.

3YP woke up at 5.30 full of the joys. 5YO woke up at 7 full of the grumps. These are not compatible mindsets for a happy breakfast experience.

Husband has just been out helping a neighbour push start the car and we have come to the slightly horrified realisation that is eldest millennials are probably the last generation who can do a push start without even thinking about it.

Husband has given the children an entire tin of fruit cocktail between them. This will end wonderfully.
