🚨 A plan to eradicate cervical cancer in England is being threatened by a slump in the number of children being vaccinated in schools: www.thetimes.com/article/5a11...

Ye Gods. Can someone check the drinking water at Labour HQ? They've all gone bonkers.

“Poor man wanna be rich. Rich man wanna be king. The king ain’t satisfied ‘til he rules everything.”—Springsteen, Badlands

If the _only_ thing we got from the EU and all the membership fees paid were the longest period of peace most European countries have been fortunate to enjoy, the money would’ve been extremely well spent. EU is a peace project first and foremost - but so much more too. Our last, best hope even?

It's been a while since waking up to good political news. Well done Canada. Well done Mark Carney.

It takes a massive brass neck to have your administration attack another president for being disrespectfully dressed in a meeting and then turn up to the pope's funeral in a blue suit.

Journalists quite often get emails written in exactly this style, often sent to scores of recipients on multiple publications, and the sadly reliable assumption is that the irate sender is miserable, paranoid and probably unwell.

total clarity here from @edwardluce.bsky.social www.ft.com/content/4c4b...

No one should be allowed to lead a country without undergoing a couple years of psychotherapy first.

In any other administration, the president would already be huddled with advisors trying to stave off collapse

So according to Kemi Badenoch "putting our national interest first" involves cheering on a foreign government arbitrarily detaining and deporting our own country's elected MPs

Wow who could’ve guessed that this would happen It’s almost as if USAID was a pillar of American soft power and influence in the world It’s almost as if it was entirely predictable that America’s adversaries would work to fill the void left by USAID’s destruction

My last visit to The Yard Theatre in Hackney Wick before it closes to be rebuilt. Jay Miller’s The Glass Menagerie has had terrific reviews and the run has been extended to May 10th. Some tickets still available but it’s selling out.

Bloody hell. What a point.

What a gracious, lovely man

The UK and our NATO allies will never forget the sacrifice of 43 Danish soldiers in Afghanistan after 9/11. But it appears JD Vance has.

Imagine negotiating with Putin and then coming out and telling everyone what bastards the Canadians are. Imagine having a brain so broken that this sequence of events is even thinkable.

Baby boomers, like me, didn't have material trinkets but we had hope, a free education, secure employment and affordable housing. Generation Z have none of these, little wonder they suffer from anxiety and depression.

Dorian's post should be made into a T-Shirt. It'd sell well in Britain.

Amis on Trump and political correctness 6 years ago. Even more right now.

This. Those with power do not want others to have human rights - the rights you have because you are human. That is why they sneer at human rights, use the media and propaganda to deride those rights, and cut off legal aid so the rights cannot be asserted. And some unwise people clap and cheer.

The assertion of human rights is normally unpopular with those in power. That’s why we have them.

Trump is using the White House to make a commercial for the richest man in the world while Americans’ 401ks are plummeting.

I hate these arguments based on relevance but: 1. Latin is still exceptionally relevant 2. Everyone should have a chance to study it 3. Sitwell imagines a world of soulless worker bees who are allowed no interests 4. Doing interesting things for their own sake is an important act of resistance

Here is some positive news from what only a few months ago would've been a very unlikely source. Well done Syria.

@privateeyenews.bsky.social on top form as usual this issue.

Well said!

Quite the insult to the hundreds of British men and women who died supporting the US-led invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan. As for random country, I could lob a stone and hit a pub that’s older than the US

Your new Anthem USA. 🫡🇷🇺

THIS IS THE CORRECT VIBE.

old Soviet joke for our times: Guy stops by the newsstand every day, scans the front page, doesn’t buy the paper. One day the vendor asks what he’s up to. Guy says: “looking for an obituary.” Vendor says “those are towards the back of the paper, comrade.” Guy says: “not the one I’m looking for.”

To be fair to Nige, maybe this sounded better in the original Russian.

Just imagine a scenario in which PM Liz Truss was in charge now and then tell me that "all politicians are the same"

Please share. 🙏🏻

Rest in power, Pat Ingoldsby. 25th August 1942 - 1st March 2025.

May I just remind you that today is a good day to rage donate to Ukraine. United24 is the Ukraine government website. Get on there and make a donation if you can afford to. It takes no more than a couple of minutes. Ukraine needs so much and is desperate for help. You can make a difference.

They are arguing, endlessly, that illegally inciting acts of terror online is ‘free speech’ while silencing dissent, targeting journalists & telling an invaded ally what he is & is not allowed to say during a live television broadcast are all fine.

This is Winston Churchill visiting the White House during World War II. Funny how he isn’t wearing a suit either. Almost like he was a wartime leader defending his country from being slaughtered and wiped out by an authoritarian aggressor.

I've just signed "Marks & Spencer - stop advertising on GB News" - Will you support the campaign too? actionstorm.org/petitions/ma... @StopFundingHate

A former White House lawyer under Nixon writes:

Freedom and democracy are always worth fighting for. Slava Ukraini.

Your dignity honors the bravery of the Ukrainian people. Be strong, be brave, be fearless. You are never alone, dear President Zelenskyy. We will continue working with you for a just and lasting peace.

The Ukrainian government has a list of places where you can donate to the war effort here. I personally just donated $100: war.ukraine.ua/donate/ Slava Ukraini.

I have just watched Trump and Vance insulting and lording it over Zelenskyy. What disrespect. I feel sick. Trump would be under the table if anyone even waved a fist at him. Slava Ukraini

@profjacob.bsky.social @explaintrade.com @cnbc.com @aoc.bsky.social Trump has a short memory. Maybe it's an age thing ?
