Update from the writing/publishing front. As you may know, Amazon/KDP (*) is reducing the royalty rate for print books below 9.99 USD from 60% to 50% starting on June 10th. I have one such book. See next post in thread... (*) The bit of Amazon you can use to publish/sell a book on their website

More of a Veterans Day poem than a Memorial Day one, but the closest that comes to mind right now. This poem is from my fantasy-in-verse "The Sign of the Dragon." If you click on the quoted poem, you will bring up the first part of a thread that contains the whole poem.

Update from the reading front: finished Carousel Sun, book 2 in Sharon Lee's contemporary fantasy series, Archer's Beach. Very short review: I enjoyed it very much. www.goodreads.com/review/show/... 📖🦭

Anyone have any recommendations for good SF / fantasy poetry that is available on Audible and that works well as an audiobook? So probably not concrete poetry, or anything that requires very close reading. 📖👂🚀🪄🦙

In forty minutes, I will be on the Juggling POV panel at Balticon, @balticon.bsky.social, a panel that will be taking place virtually. I'll be zooming in from Pittsburgh. Pilot, my cat, may make an appearance, but no guarantees as he is currently dozing. #Caturday.

Update from the reading front. Re-read hortus animaum by Sienna Tristen, a superb poetry chapbook, subtitled "a new herbal for the queer heart." I still love it :-) :-) www.goodreads.com/review/show/... 📖🌳💮

My Monday evening conversation with C. S. E. Cooney & Carlos Hernandez is online. The main portion begins at 12 and a 1/2 minutes with chat-without-video before that: www.twitch.tv/videos/24632... Many many thanks to Claire and Carlos, who are awesome! A reading! Book+game recommendations! 🐉🦙📖🎲

Mumblings from the poetry front.... Hmmm.... Of late, I have been mostly occupied by things that might be short poetry sequences, or, on the other hand, might be one long poem with several parts. Currently, I have one of these framed as a sequence of 7 poems, and another as a poem in parts.

Update from the poetry front: poem accepted for a NewMyths anthology :-) For the curious - written 4/2022 - they pay $50 - partly inspired by (1) The Daily Poet (Agodon/Silano); (2) the Fungi theme of Eye to the Telescope - accepted in 338 days, but they told me they were holding it after 5 days ✏️

The comment period for this ends in 3 DAYS. Please leave a comment telling them EVERYONE should be able to get covid boosters. www.regulations.gov/commenton/FD...

Claire and Carlos are the best people and I had a lovely time talking to them :-)

Update from the poetry front: my poem "So This Is Time Travel" has appeared in Rune 2025 :-) For the curious - poem written 3/2023 - inspired by Ted Kooser's "So This Is Nebraska" - rejected 12 times (came close twice) - this is my 12th poem in Rune, literary journal of Robert Morris University ✏️🦙
