Today was the perfect day to be outside and with nature. 💚

Craved something with cinnamon sugar, so I whipped up this loaf over the weekend. It will likely last three days before it's gone, which I consider to be an incredible show of willpower on our part.

There's something uniquely restorative about a hot cup of tea and a few biscuits.

Making pizzas tonight and I had an extra bit of dough, so we gotta make a galette.

Feeling like making a tomato curry today. Time to toast some spices.

Today's grow op. Basil forever!

Tonight I'm going on my first long run after a several-month-long hiatus (I've been training on an indoor bike and doing freeweights and kettlebell cardio instead). Nervous, but excited. It's a breezy 13ºC so this should be refreshing!

A nice #quote to stoke the flames of your mind before the weekend: "Absence diminishes commonplace passions and increases great ones, as the wind extinguishes candles and kindles fire." —La Rochefoucauld

ARC Raiders is oozing with personality. Sound design? Incredible. Visuals? Spectacular. Setting? Captivating. The vibes are good!

I've been away at a sales conference for the past few days. Whenever I go to these events it feels like I enter a bubble and I come out of it days later, bleary-eyed and desperately trying to catch up on the goings-on in the world.

One of my favourite #baking hacks is to add 1T of molasses (be sure to oil your tablespoon first) to a cup of sugar to make some light brown sugar. 2T for dark brown sugar. Works great.

Shrimp with a garlic butter sauce might be one of those meals that I could eat every day. Serving this with fusilli, quickly sauteed peppers, and a homemade pesto.

Happy Earth Day 🌍

I saw a video of someone fermenting some pine needles to make a soda. On a recent hike I bundled up a few to give it a try, too! We shall seeeee...

"Solitude has but one disadvantage; it is apt to give one too high an opinion of one's self. In the world we are sure to be often reminded of every known or supposed defect we may have." —Lord Byron

Reading that #Polievre is going to remove restrictions on some plastics. I guess Conservatives love wading through detritus while at the beach and having plastics coursing through their bodies? Way to look out for future generations, you donut. #Canada #cdnpoli #CanadaVotes #FederalElection

Wishful thinking! #quotes "The more sand that has escaped from the hourglass of our life, the clearer we should see through it." —Jean-Paul Sartre

I'm at a stage in my life where I've become disproportionately appreciative of solid, practical, multipurpose containers.

Bread heels are unfairly judged. They're perfectly fine. Also, good morning. 🙃

I had an interaction yesterday where, as it was occurring, my brain was signaling that this person was severely lacking in empathy. I have my cold, detached moments, no doubt, but it's always kind of a jolt to me to bear witness to what seems like objectively ruthless opinions and behaviours.

This is Ripley. He was nervous about taking the stairs. May have panicked a bit. 12/10

This angers me to no end. Almost all of us benefited from this and we're only getting rid of it because of deliberately misleading politicking (read: lying to your uninformed constituency). Shameful. The cost of fuel is already expected to rise quickly! #onpoli #carbontax www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

#Parenting is incredibly challenging and the responsibility can feel so overwhelming at times, but there are also incomparable moments of joy and love. I would do anything for this kid, and it fills my heart to think that he believes it and has placed his faith in me.

It's a "make granola" kind of a day today. Double batchin'! This is the EMP granola recipe with a lotttt of mods.

In my continuing saga of denying myself things that I love, I haven't eaten #sushi in literal months (sushi brings me so much joy). I'm going out to get some for lunch today. Cannot wait. Giddy with excitement. Bring on the euphoria!

Trembling. I've eaten a slice of PB&J toast and a cupcake in the past 24 hours. Not precisely sure why I choose to do this to myself? About to overcorrect with homemade fries, a breaded spicy chicken sandwich, and a non-alc beer. Sorry for the rollercoaster, body.

#Runners out there: do you have any recommendations for a lightweight, long distance #running sock? Looking for a snug fit, not too much material. I have been using a pair of NB socks for years that were perfect, but they're finally starting to fall apart. All attempts to supplant them have failed.

This is Louis. He was given a flower crown because it looked cute. But now he wields unfathomable power as the flower king. 12/10

"Nothing [replaces] persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent." —Calvin Coolidge

In addition to a poorly informed public, disenchantment with the political process and voter apathy will ruin us all. #politics #quotes "The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don't have any." —Alice Walker

This is apparently a single serving of pasta by weight? No. God no.
