Starting a much-needed holiday. I finished my work tonight at 8pm and I've been enjoying the first couple hours of my much-needed break - looking forward to WWDC but in the meantime I am giving Microsoft Edge a try and I might even give Office 365 Business Standard a try to see how it compares to…

Dying when giving birth in Texas due to a total abortion ban is a pretty good reason why I wouldn't want to live in Texas even with all the promises of 'no income tax' (ignoring the fact that Texas has high property taxes and other forms of taxation). www.youtube.com/watch?v=38AC...

One more day to go. Almost there, Sunday is my last day before I start my holiday off from work for a week - relaxing at home, following WWDC, doing some home cooking, maybe go for some travel such as up to Waikanae, maybe go into Wellington on a fine day for a walk along the waterfront and breath…

Two more days to go then holidays. Only two more days to go and then the holidays start. I'm looking forward to the WWDC Keynote and The Platforms State of the Union - the second one I find a little but more investing because although the presentation is still focusing on topics at the macro level…

From @nytopinion.nytimes.com “Too many Christians are transforming Christianity into a vertical faith, one that focuses on your personal relationship with God at the expense of the horizontal relationship you have with your neighbors,” writes our columnist David French.

Just a random thought: In reference to the recent drama, it'll be interesting if we end up hearing from Elon regarding DOGE that he wanted to audit and cut 'waste, fraud and abuse' in the department of defence but he was told he wasn't allowed to touch it. 🧵

A very wet day in Wellington. It has been raining all day with a lot of wind but thank goodness at around 11pm last night there was a small period of just a little bit of drizzle which allowed me to step out of the house for an 8km walk tonight - after being stuck inside all day it is nice to get…

I want to believe there will be a political price paid but something tells me that Iowans will slavishly vote for Republicans regardless of how bad things get in their own lives - if they haven't learnt by now I doubt we'll see a sudden change anytime soon. www.thenation.com/article/poli...

Looking through some of the clothes I haven't worn in years (getting ready to donate them to the op shop) and I'm left asking myself, "what the heck was I thinking", but then I am reminded that we go through phases and I guess some of the shirts I bought when I was young believing they were 'cool'.

Back to work on Wednesday..a nice three day weekend. The wether was pretty lousy today so I still went for a walk (even after the long one I had on Monday) but only a small one, around 6km, I was tempted to go the full 8km but the drizzle was starting to get worse so I didn't want to be in a…

A productive day off. Today was a productive day, I visited my sister to hand back the laptop that I set up for her along with setting up the UniFi Dream Machine and UniFi AP AC HD resulting in a much better internet experience where (I ran a speed test and was able to hit 300mbps download and…

Happy birthday to me. I went out tonight with mum, sister, partner and two nieces for dinner to celebrate reaching the ripe old age of 44 years old. It is amazing how the years go so quickly and yet at the age of 44 I don't feel old, I don't feel like I'm slowing down or aging when compared to…

One day closer to my birthday and time off. Finished work tonight at 10pm and then went for a 10km walk - I was going to just do an 8km walk but I got to the 6km mark and decided I may as well go the 'whole hog'. I arrived back home feeling a bit sore but feeling good as though I had just…

Twitter has basically devolved into everyone falling for an AI video of a kangaroo and then nazis getting mad at nazis for falling for it and then all of them calling each other gay

That was a long walked. After work I headed down to the supermarket to pick up some random things that I ran out of along with something for dinner then came back home, had dinner then decided to go for a long power walk. How long was the walk? 16km, and when I came back I had sore legs, sore feet…

Busy night at work. Had a late start for work but I'm happy that tomorrow things are normal - I didn't go for my walk tonight because of the late finish but also because I wanted to do a whole lot of organising around the house. In my bedroom in the closest I have a habit of keeping all the boxes…

Late start tomorrow, great day today. I decided I needed to get out of the house after being stuck in day all yesterday - I went down the road and popped into the local bakery in the mall for a cheese and onion toasted sandwich, a piece of carrot cake and a mochachino. I had a look around the…

A quiet day at home. I decided to have a relaxing day hanging around at home - yeah, I like to get out of the house on my day off but today the weather was wet and cold so I decided hanging around watching some videos and having a tandoori chicken for lunch/early dinner was more the pace I wanted…

A week in review: Lots of AI hype but some gems uncovered. The end of another week which has been uneventful however I have been following the Google I/O conference and the Microsoft Build conference - AI obsession has reached fever pitch but at least we've now moved beyond the novelty of asking a…

I really do wish the US voter would learn but they won't - the US voted in GWB for a second term, 2 yrs after the fiasco of GWB 2nd term they voted to give the GOP a majority in both houses in the mid terms under Obama, they voted in Trump a second time after the chaos if the first time he was in. 🧵

This week's comic: Highly selective health nuts

@jenmsft.bsky.social Regarding the announcement around MAX_PATH, has File Explorer been updated to work with long paths or does it still have the MAX_PATH limitation even after allowing long paths in the register and policy editor?

The new network is all setup with new ethernet cables, the old equipment will be recycled and used to replace my mum's network setup which is really lacking in providing wifi coverage for her house - with the added benefit is that I can manage her network from my place through the UniFi portal.

UPDATE: The Senate parliamentarian advised lawmakers that they couldn't use the Congressional Review Act to revoke California's right to set vehicle standards. But they did it anyway. Expect a legal fight.

Well, this is neat, Microsoft Edit is written in Rust, will be interesting to see how it will evolve and whether there will be a community develop around the project adding features that we see in the popular editors out there. github.com/microsoft/edit

I simply don’t care, I really don’t. Microsoft's Build conference is one but giant snoozefest of hearing them going on and on and on and on and on about AI - am I the only one who just doesn't give a flying continental about AI? Dear Microsoft, your File Explorer can't even handle long path names,…

The problem is even if you do enable long paths on Windows 11 the builtin Explorer isn't compatible which means it is pretty much pointless to enable long paths when a core feature of Windows 11 still hasn't been updated to be compatible with long path names. Once again Microsoft disappoints me.

Question: Where are all those people of Dearborn Michigan who pearl clutched and claimed they couldn't vote for 'Killer Kamala' and 'Genocide Joe'? funny how they've suddenly disappeared, nowhere to be found, kind of like those who voted for GWB two times but never admit that they did.

Network upgrade installed. I went into Wellington to pick up a U7 Pro Max and UXG Max then ordered a Cloud Key from GoWifi which will hopefully arrive in the next couple of days. I've got it all setup using the UniFi cloud instance (3 day trial) but once I receive the Cloud Key then I'll cancel…

Well, I’ve learnt something today. As mentioned previously I went to the App Store and saw that macOS hadn't been updated to 15.5 but out curiosity today I clicked on 'Get' to see whether it would download 15.4.1 or whether it would download the latest version being 15.5 and it appears that…

Making the best of the bad weather. Final day of work on Sunday for the week, on Saturday I went for a walk but I got caught in a downpour around 3/4 way through the walk so by the time I came home I was pretty much drenched resulting in my running shoes being wet. Tonight I went for a short walk…
