Braves outfielder fWAR this season: Ronald Acuña Jr: 0.7 Eli White: 0.3 Michael Harris: 0.3 Stuart Fairchild: 0.1 Eddie Rosario: 0.0 Jurickson Profar: -0.2 Alex Verdugo: -0.3 Bryan De La Cruz: -0.4 Jarred Kelenic: -0.4

The Double-A Columbus Clingstones had as rough a week as one will ever see: Sat: lost 1-0 Sun: lost 1-0 Mon: off Tue: rained out Wed: rained out Thu: rained out Fri: lost 1-0

John Gant has been around for so long that the Braves traded Juan Uribe and Kelly Johnson to get him and then sent him to the Cardinals for Jaime Garcia.

Alvarado, at home for the next 80 games:

Braves fWAR leaders (after 5/13): Pitchers Chris Sale - 1.2 Spencer Schwellenbach - 0.8 Pierce Johnson - 0.6 Position players Austin Riley - 1.2 Marcell Ozuna - 1.1 Drake Baldwin - 1.0

The Braves are 4-0 in extra-inning games this season. However, they are now 0-4 in the ensuing games with a total of 12 runs scored.

Braves reliever Rafael Montero has issued more walks this season (11 in 8.2 IP) than starter Spencer Schwellenbach (9 in 47.1 IP).

Eli White’s triple is just the second by the Braves this season. The other triple was by Stuart Fairchild, which is his only hit as a Brave.

Number of pitches thrown by Braves pitchers tonight: Blewett - 48 Bummer - 40 De Los Santos - 26 Montero - 24 Wiles - 24 Lee - 20 Only Johnson, Hernández, and Iglesias sat out tonight. I hope Bryce Elder is prepared about 150 pitches tomorrow.

After his fourth walk of the night, Marcell Ozuna now has a .500 OBP for the season.

Good to see Matzek back in the bigs.

Welp.

Enyel De Los Santos has been tremendous for the Braves bullpen in the early going with a 1.42 ERA and 0.3 fWAR. If he keeps this up, he could find himself in more high-leverage situations.

Fun with early-season stats: Three days ago, Jarred Kelenic was in the 1st percentile on walk rate because he did not have any walks. Now? He’s in the 80th percentile.

The Braves as an organization got swept on Saturday: Miami 4 - Atlanta 0 Nashville 10 - Gwinnett 2 Montgomery 6 - Columbus 5 (10) Winston-Salem 16 - Rome 6 Columbus 3 - Augusta 1

Ladies and gentlemen, Drake Baldwin isn’t going anywhere…especially with that sprint speed <rimshot>.

Good morning to the no-longer winless Atlanta Braves, but especially Spencer Schwellenbach.

Jesse Chavez was DFA’d for RHP Zach Thompson but will likely be back at some point. After Suárez throwing 40+ pitches on Sunday night and Jesse doing the same on Monday, the team needs someone to eat innings over the next couple of days if it comes to that.

I was a day late, but yeah…

Dansby Swanson has cleaned Sacramento out of sage while Max Fried has entered witness protection in order to avoid whatever is happening to Braves and Braves-adjacent players.

Imagine the folks without internet who will be turning on the Braves pre-game show and having to absorb all of today’s news at once.

The Rome Emperors roster is highlighted by another stellar starting rotation (Ritchie, Baumann, Fuentes, Hernandez, Maier).

The Augusta Greenjackets roster is out. It’s a very young roster highlighted by the professional debut of catcher Nick Montgomery.

The inaugural Columbus Clingstones roster is out, the pitching staff is absolutely loaded. Also of note, David Fletcher is listed as an infielder. I guess the pitching experiment is over.

The Jesse Chavez move is fine. Hector Neris wasn’t doing the job and, although José Suarez did a nice job eating innings on Sunday night, he won’t be available for at least a couple of days after throwing 43 pitches.

Through the first four games, Marcell Ozuna has walked seven times while Matt Olson has four free passes. The rest of the team has five walks combined with Arcia, Kelenic and Harris standing at zero.

Through the first four games of the season, the Braves as a team are hitting .148/.246/.238 with a 43 wRC+.

Looking forward to Raisel Iglesias pitching the 8th inning just so he can finally get some work in.

Hardest-hit balls for the Braves on Friday night: Austin Riley - 110.7 mph double Drake Baldwin - 109.6 mph GO Jarred Kelenic - 108.4 mph HR Drake Baldwin - 101.6 mph GO Austin Riley - 101.5 mph FO Drake Baldwin - 99.1 mph FO

Drake Baldwin’s last two at-bats have produced the third- and fourth-hardest hit balls of the night for the Braves (after Riley’s double and Kelenic’s HR).

The Gwinnett Stripers current outfielders include Connor Capel, Carlos Rodriguez, and Jake Marisnick. Adding Alex Verdugo can only help that depth situation.

New pod! Matt (@mattchrietzberg.bsky.social) and Andy (@k26dp.bsky.social) talk about how the Atlanta roster is shaping up and the recent additions of James McCann and Craig Kimbrel. Then we look at the standouts from Sunday's Spring Breakout prospect exhibition. outfieldflyrule.com/2025/03/20/o...
