Just showing off my beautiful step daughter on her prom 🤩

This morning I have a doctors appointment. I literally have no idea why. I’ve had all my regular ones, and this has been in my calendar for weeks, but I can’t find a message about it. Was about to write it off, and then doctors sent me a reminder. So who knows what it is for 🫣😂

Spent the day at Google UK HQ today. Always an interesting event.

This sport throws up great quotes all the time but Lando Norris saying: "I've done that before, in Mario Kart," after watching a clip of Max Verstappen deliberately driving into George Russell in the cool down room is a clear all-timer.

10 seconds? What a joke.

And this is why Verstappen is such an idiot. Just so out of order.

Is education in the UK drowning in technical debt? And, if so - what are the main reason for it - and how do we go about settling the debt so we can move forward? I have put together a short blog post with some thoughts. www.mattian.co.uk/is-education...

Oh no. Nico is ‘commentating’

One of the most enjoyable parts of my job, training others. Here we are configuring edge routers and @smoothwall.bsky.social for redundancy

I don’t think so. I watched it for the first time in years today, normally ignore it - and it’s a procession. Was there actually any overtaking on the track? Audiences watching TV get nothing from this one, and it seems neither do the drivers.

This was a very interesting episode to record with Chris founder of @edugeek.net - a platform I have used many times to get me out of shit.

Albon is performing incredibly well, which is great to see in a revival of Williams!

Proud of this one vimeo.com/1085996810

Sorry but the commentators on Sky are trying to make up stories which just don’t exist. Not a touch on Crofty and Martin.

Great overtake by Norris there.

The issue is criminals need to get it right once to breach an org, but those defending need to get it right every single day of every year. So you can spend as much as you like and it still wont be enough to stop the risk. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

At SAAS on the @naht.org.uk stand for @concero.education today. Come and say hello!

I’ll be at Schools & Academies Show tomorrow, on the @naht.org.uk stand, come by and say hello!

Microsoft Publisher is being discontinued from October 2026 & schools with this installed via Office 365 will not be able to open their Publisher files from this date. You can find advice on ways schools can still use Publisher files or convert them here: www.edugeek.net/forums/topic...

The naked man fears no pick pockets

💻 Almost a third of schools in the poorest areas do not offer computer science A-level, leaving pupils “shut out of one of the best paid career paths” because of teacher shortages schoolsweek.co.uk/poorer-pupil...

Wondered why my house smelt like fire when I returned today.

Enjoyable F1 from Miami yesterday, I fell asleep for the last 10 laps tho.

I’ve run out of guests for @edtechpeople.co.uk - are you interested in being one? Work with edutech? School staff, suppliers, governance? Then get in touch! Edtechpeople.co.uk

Been representing Google Education at the @naht.org.uk Conference in Harrogate with @concero.education today. Good to talk around Chome OS Flex and Gemini.

I’m a guest on the most recent @naht.org.uk podcast - talking all things cyber security - open.spotify.com/episode/2Rqi...

The M&S breach shows a key message I try to get over to those interested in listening - it’s not the attack that will be the biggest impact. It will be the time it takes to recover and longer term impact on reputation.

A new blog post for Sunday, focusing on why the structure of IT support teams in education needs to change. www.mattian.co.uk/why-the-stru...

They were never “free” - schools pay licences to cover them. They pay these yearly already. The ESU is a penalty on top of the licence costs for not getting your act together and upgrading in the last 4 years.

ESUs are not the solution

Nothing like a night of website editing to quell one’s anxiety. Fresh new look at www.edtechpeople.co.uk

I have to take 9 tablets a day. Why is there not a system that knows when I got my tablets, and so when I need to reorder them? And why can’t it do this automatically? And why can’t it ensure the tablets are in stock?

@octopus.energy apparently neither of my meters have provided data since the 25th March, I’ve emailed your team via the app, but they took ages to respond. will this affect my use of cheaper rates? As on EV tariff and therefore time most of my usage for nighttime?

I honestly don’t know why you would have a trust model, and not enable leaders to allocate funding based on needs they are asked to resolve, or, by not letting them develop centralised services to enable schools to focus on teaching and learning, and experts run the ever increasing operational sides

Fun day with my kids, partner and parents driving a canal boat for the day 🥰 which was for my birthday. Nothing like having the whole crew together. Not always easy, but always worth it.
