Me (misreading a can at Fred Meyer): Reified Beans? I guess the label is doing most of that

PROCESS, page 33 (upper half): Lucas cuts his teeth at a startup developing a virtual world project codenamed Prometheus. #BookSky

Me [solving some of the 5x5 nonograms on the site with all 24,976,511 of the 5x5 nonograms]: At least a computer will never be able to do this

I’m not sure I ever really “feel old,” but people acting like FromSoftware releasing a 7/10 game is some kind of new thing for them does have me calmly contemplating eternity.

No, I’m not in Grand Vizier chat (secret). I was for a little bit, someone invited me, but it was kinda sad and pointless so I bailed. I AM in Assassin’s chat (secret) (no, I can’t say why)… it’s a little better, though right now we are back to katar discourse again.

If I ever had to fight a gamer in real life I would just not do any windup animations

Rise of the Rōnin (2024) features both a parry system AND Commodore Matthew Perry so it is perhaps the only game that lets you parry Perry and that is what I would like to contribute to the discourse thanks

Is this a dagger which I see before me [Press R1 for LIGHT ATTACK], The handle toward my hand [Press R2 for HEAVY ATTACK]? Come, let me clutch thee [Hold R2 for CHARGE ATTACK]. I have thee not, and yet I see thee still [Press L1 + R2 for PHANTOM ATTACK (expends Ghost Power)].

In the past, “the game industry” meant video games while “the gaming industry” was a euphemism for the gambling industry, but today everyone seems to feel “the gaming industry” is the same as “the game industry,” perhaps in part because “gambling” is not a touchy word anymore

I tried to take that “which fictional character are you” test but I got a weird error message that just said “congratulations, you are the only real human being in the simulation” anyone else getting this?

Lot of this guy around lately

Bleak House by Charles Dickens has come up again— I suppose because of that reading study— so here is something I wrote inspired by Bleak House when I was, I believe, seventeen years old

Very excited to read and an utterly gorgeous book as well: Matthew Seiji Burns (@matthewseiji.com), Process (@tuneandfairweather.bsky.social, 2025): www.tuneandfairweather.com/products/pro...

Science fiction is when a guy lives in a little pod

Why take a novel— a daunting prospect for many people to begin with— and make it, in some sense, even more difficult to read? www.printmag.com/daily-heller...

Time to load up Dynasty Warriors, take a big sip of coffee from my mug, and check in on the status of the enemy officer, who in all likelihood has not been defeated

Mysterious-looking guy on the street [passing by me]: They’re French now Me: What? A different mysterious guy: Video games. They’re French now

Hi, I’m Matthew Seiji Burns. You may know me from such tweets as “They call him Big Hat Logan because he wears a big hat” or “Sam. It’s me, Die-Hardman. Wanted to let you know there's banana bread in the kitchen.” Check out my debut novel, about a guy who has a bad time.

Guy who thinks the weed number is 430: Heeey it’s 4:30

Process takes readers on an intense psychological journey into the dark heart of Seattle’s tech startup world. The main character is a young man driven by an almost animalistic need to find outsized success creating the next unicorn tech juggernaut. www.tuneandfairweather.com/products/pro...

Blue Prince… bloop rinse… wow I just realized this

They never talk about Big Tom Eagan, the Lumon Industries would-be heir who quit the family business and ran Eagan’s Drive-In diner in Tumwater, Washington.

My debut novel PROCESS can be obtained in three forms: • An astonishing physical book, designed throughout and on every page by Mark Wynne • A digital edition, with a PDF of the full layout and an epub for reader apps • An audiobook, read by me(!) All from an independent publisher.

I made a visual novel once and I still think it's pretty good. We Know the Devil is the one about abandoning a bicycle in a parking lot, except the bicycle is the dream of the actualized self and the parking lot is a christian summer camp. store.steampowered.com/app/435300/W...

Me (jiggling the door handle): Locked. I’ll have to find another way through.

If I really were Alan Wake though I’d probably be wondering why I was constantly being surrounded by Finnish people and things

Grand Designs has all three of: the tension between ambition and achievability, what someone thinks will be cool versus what it actually ends up looking like, and the shushing of someone who is trying to help by suggesting in the mildest possible way that they think things through first

Never thought I would read a full-on academic paper about TIS-100, its story (the first I wrote for Zachtronics), and its relationship to the birth of personal computing gamestudies.org/2401/article...

Studio Ghibli’s films share stylistic commonalities but each one also features plenty of individually differentiating choices, something you might notice when you watch them

Physical copies are starting to promulgate...

You can listen to me channel Alan Wake for about five minutes, initiated by a church bell ringing ominously.
