Yes please I love taxes I love to pay for services that society can use so we can all be happier and healthier. But especially businesses and extreme wealth please, I’m begging capitalists to pay their fair share. It’s crazy my firefighter bro has a higher tax rate than them.

Imagine what you would think of a neighbor who spent as much on their home security system as on their kids' food, education, daycare, and healthcare put together.

Over the last free months Canada has upped its border security, agreed to participate in the Golden Dome, and spend 5% of GDP on defence and it basically all means nothing. No agreement will be stable or secure, even if we can eventually reach one. The new normal in Canada-US relations.

Western fanfics about China are really getting out of hand

Truly incredible article here by @rebtanhs.bsky.social and Pei-Lin Wu of the Washington Post here tracing the activities of CCP-tied PRC criminal networks through Southeast Asia and Africa www.washingtonpost.com/world/intera...

*nyt pitchbot voice* as voting day dawns to record heat, responsible voters must reject mamdani's radical environmental leftism

Will go to my grave believing the Pacers would've won with a full Hali game

Honestly the failures of Trump to make best use of US conventional propaganda capabilities is the least of our worries.

Been pretty even keeled rooting for the Pacers this whole postseason but this game been a complete mess from the second Haliburton went down.

Smart money at the time said the tariffs weren't high enough to meaningfully undercut the PRC automakers' price advantage and lo and behold

Sixteen years ago around this time, I applied for a F-1 student visa to come to the US. I wanted to study here because I knew in America, everyone -- native or foreign -- could speak up their mind, including the freedom to criticize the US government. And now this👇

I still can't get past the idea that people in America are now supposed to accept that this is a valid form of law enforcement and just assume it's fine when random dudes in groups with face-coverings, no ID, no warrant, & no uniform grab people off the street and force them into unmarked vehicles

German carmakers, whose definition of derisking has been more (not less) China, are now scrambling in real-time to diversify from Chinese rare earth magnets. The lack of strategic vision is breathtaking. A replay of the Russian gas debacle on.ft.com/4l6hgR8

The cruelty in today's politics feels horribly corrosive. Bringing up that hard-working immigrant families — undocumented, yes, but not violent criminals — are being ripped apart based on immigration status doesn't bring compassion or even pause, but gleeful cheers.

Everyone I knew who covered disinformation got laid off, their bosses got bullied into firing them, or they changed their beats from actual Nazi harassment campaigns. It cannot be stressed the damage the paid-for Substack “free speech” guys did in the service of fascism and against real free speech.

Infuriating seeing US tankies dismiss overseas protest moments as NED funded and CIA engineered and having people thank them, apparently not noticing that it’s virtually identical to the rhetoric deployed against US protesters. Powerful people will always say protesters are paid and controlled

This needs as much coverage as protests or ICE raids. Los Angelenos FTW. ❤️🙌

And for the jointly hosted US/Canada/Mexico World Cup next year!
