The WCHA makes its official that the 2026 Final Faceoff will be at St. Thomas' new Anderson Arena on March 5-7. Yes, the WCHA semifinals and final will now be spread out over three days starting on Thursday and wrapping up on Saturday.

UMD alum and former captain Noah Cates has signed a four year extension with Philadelphia. $4M AAV. Was scheduled to be an RFA with arb rights. The deal buys out three years of UFA. $1.25M bonus in year one, $1m bonus in year two. Rest of the contract is all salary.

USA and Canada will play a four-game rivalry series in November and December 2025 in the lead up to the 2026 Olympics in Italy. First dates via USA Hockey are Nov. 6 in Cleveland and Nov. 8 in Buffalo. St. Thomas and Bemidji State play a WCHA series that weekend. The rest of the league is off.

Via @collegehockey.bsky.social: UMD had 14 alumni play in the NHL in 2024-25. That's tied with North Dakota for most in the NCHC and tied for sixth nationally. Noah Cates led UMD alumni in goals with 16. Neal Pionk led in points (39) and assists (29).

Two future Bulldogs won BCHL titles Sunday with the Brooks Bandits. Luke Bibby, a forward coming next season, was third on the team in postseason scoring with 11 goals and 10 assists in 21 games. Defenseman Keith McInnis was fourth in scoring with seven goals and 10 assists.

Didn’t see this one coming, but Michigan Tech has named Bill Muckalt as its new head hockey coach, replacing Joe Shawhan after 8 seasons. Muckalt played college hockey at Michigan and was an assistant for Tech and his alma mater before coaching Lindenwood last season.

Game 5 of USHL's Clark Cup Final is tonight in Iowa. Future Bulldog defenseman Jacob Toll is trying to win a title with the Muskegon Lumberjacks. Waterloo Black Hawks are backstopped this postseason by Grand Rapids junior goalie Carter Casey. He has a .921 sv% and 2.45 GAA in 14 playoff games.
