Boomer blasting fox news on his phone with no headphones on the otherwise silent commuter shuttle, FUCK YOU

Honestly I'm still not over the Department of Defense removing references to the Enola Gay from their website because it contains the word "Gay." These jabronis have done much more harmful things, but that's the one that's stuck in my craw for being so deeply and profoundly stupid.

i have said this before but this is why it was and is important not to ignore the “NPC” language. these people really believe that other human beings are not real, with all the consequences that flow from this

And the fact that LILO & STITCH and FINAL DESTINATION: BLOODLINES were originally destined for streaming proves that Hollywood still doesn't understand people want to go to the movies.

“Through my film, I was able to express that I loved him.”

Yesterday's 12:30PM showing of FRIENDSHIP had more than 10 other people there. People are seeing weird black comedies on Thursday afternoons again. Cinema lives!!!

We are not even six months into 2025, and movies have made $5.719 billion. The total for all of 2024 was $8.872 billion. But yeah, sure, cinema is dying.

“Why did you sting me, Mr. scorpion?“

“The building, for which plans are still preliminary, would be the second major project the Trump Organization, U.S. President Donald Trump's family business, is reviewing in Vietnam. The Southeast Asian country is currently in trade talks with Washington to avoid crippling 46% tariffs.”

best reaction i've yet seen to someone blasting unwanted music from their phone on the subway: a bunch of teens shouting endless requests.

A thing that I’ve been doing for years now is writing on one device/in one medium and editing in another. I handwrote a review this week then typed it into my laptop and edited it. I’m currently editing a feature on my phone that I wrote on my laptop. Trying to see it through fresh eyes.

Love this guy

I always feel so happy for those actors who have one scene on some TV show, playing a role that’s not hugely important to the plot, and somehow they make an impression and the next time you see them you go “oh, that was the funny bellhop from that other show”

One time I was on a subway and a woman was crying. And then strangers sat next to her, put their arms around her and talked with her. And then other people told her that it would get better and a teen going to prom or something gave her a flower out of the bouquet he was carrying. It was beautiful.

I'm so excited to be a part of The Vincent Price Legacy, billed as the first feature documentary about one of horror's all-time legends! It's expected to come out this fall. bloody-disgusting.com/videos/38703...

“In a world where we’re constantly reminded that physical media is dead — that the future is just algorithms stomping our faces, forever — the fact that the Criterion Closet has gone viral suggests that all is not lost.” @bilgeebiri.bsky.social

Somebody (not here) who I’ve known for years just texted me a screenshot of a ChatGPT result in attempt to prove me wrong about something and now I feel weary in my very bones.

Great thread on a master of film music

SCOOP: The State Department's new reorganization plan includes the opening of an "Office for Remigration," a term popularized by far right extremists and neo-Nazis in Europe. The office will coordinate directly with DHS "to advance the President’s immigration agenda." My report:

Love this so much I bought the physical media and.....I passed the #SpaceGhost love to Lad!

"There is a period for the fledgling fanatic during which even the thought that there could be bad movies was ridiculous heresy. I hoped I never got so old. When I watch Starman, I never did." @mangiotto.bsky.social on his history with STARMAN for its 4K release: www.rogerebert.com/dvd-blu-ray/...

This is a lovely essay about a movie I have not thought about in decades.

“There’s a reason why this tale keeps getting retold: it’s foolproof.” I reviewed the sixth Karate Kid movie for @ebertvoices.bsky.social. You’ve seen it all before, and it still works. www.rogerebert.com/reviews/kara...
